Description

Talk about a lot of performance for not a lot of money! Take one lightweight tube-frame chassis, wrap it in high-quality Factory Five fiberglass that emulates the most famous and curvaceous roadster of all time and then plant a modern, professionally built Ford small block up front for whiplash-inducing acceleration. Priced for less than the cost of building one yourself, this exceptionally well-built Cobra roadster is the kind of car that you can keep, drive and enjoy for years to come. In fact its so well done that it took home a Best of Show award at the 2009 Spring Auto Fair at Charlotte Motor Speedway. And when you factor in the added convenience of firing it up and driving it right out of our RK Motors Charlotte showroom instead of prolonging your gratification over a 2-5 year build time, it becomes the ultimate car for any enthusiast who wants a complete, road ready package!

Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this smooth Cobra roadster is no exception! Its virtually flawless body displays no obvious signs of waves or ripples anywhere; and the typically tight panel gaps that have become a company hallmark present well and function great. When the owner took delivery of the shell, he wanted to create a car that he could keep forever. So the five year, labor intensive build began with one month of hand sanding the bottom of the body and applying a thick coat of Herculiner weather coating. Next, a high quality top was ordered, fitted with custom side windows and flipped and sanded with the same exacting attention to detail. After months of fine tuning, the canvas was finally smooth and tight enough for a trophy winning coat of Charcoal Gray Chrysler urethane. And since that first line of paint was laid down, it has never been in the rain, never been wet and is always detailed with a buffer and wax instead of a bucket and wash mitt. It isnt often that you find a memorable Cobra which isnt covered is some seriously trendy paint. But this Factory Five roadster, with its race-bred personality, serious mechanical hardware and excellent attention to detail, is so natural and so well done that it gets serious attention, draws long stares and gains big fans everywhere it goes!

Naturally, that labor intensive build included getting every one of the cars all-important details exactly right. And the result is a well-planned roadster which turns the would-be liabilities of a custom piece into the form enhancing assets of a top notch show car. Up front, like-new tri-bar headlights hang above Lucas-style finned parking lights which flank traditional stainless Cobra bumperettes and black mesh grilles. At the top of the car, an extended fiberglass hood scoop rides in front of a new chrome trimmed windshield that is equipped with both tinted visors and clear wind wings; and traditional locking hood latches perfectly complement two-speed stainless wipers, a stainless drivers side roll bar and a traditional billet fuel filler. At the sides of the car, great looking ceramic coated side pipes sit below finned aluminum air extractors, red, blue and silver Powered By Ford emblems and curvaceous rear fenders that are protected from chips by fresh paint protection film. And at the back of the car, clear round tail lights flank a second set of stainless bumperettes, a pristine chrome tag light and a locking chrome trunk handle.

Not only does this awesome Cobra look great, its guaranteed to perform great thanks to a modern 375 horsepower 5.0 liter Ford V8 that was freshly rebuilt by Blazer Racing in Huntersville, North Carolina just over 1,000 miles ago. At the top of that smooth engine, air flows from a reusable KN air filter, which is complete with a show polished air tube, into a 70 mm BBK throttle body thats bolted to a billet spacer and an impressive GT40 tubular intake manifold. Below that manifold, stainless fuel lines carry hot burning 93 octane from a high output Ford Racing fuel pump to an Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator which supplies both a liquid filled Marshall fuel pressure gauge and 24 lb. Ford Racing injectors. Fire is provided by a Ford Racing high output coil which is connected to an MSD 6AL ignition system, an Accel billet electronic distributor and blue Ford Racing wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a high flow aluminum radiator which sends water past a high performance Black Magic adjustable electric fan to corrugated hoses and a Street and Performance water pump. And the engine breathes well thanks to a slick pair of ceramic coated Ford Racing shorty headers. At the back of the engine, a Ford AL-9 computer, which is actually programmed for a performance chip that hasnt been installed post rebuild, seamlessly communicates with a Ford Racing wiring harness to ensure the cars electronic fuel injection works flawlessly. At the front of the engine, a fresh serpentine belt spins polished pulleys, along with a chrome AC compressor and a chrome Street and Performance alternator. And at the bottom of the engine, a high torque mini starter spins a tough Street and Performance crankshaft. Aesthetically, the modern small block looks right at home between the body-matched fenders, body-matched hood and the polished aluminum firewall. And well-planned details like a bright blue overflow tank with a billet cap, great looking polished Ford Racing valve covers with a Ford Racing breather and liquid smooth gas hood supports are both functional and appealing.

One of the best things about this high quality, expertly built Cobra is its ability to run circles around almost anything at the track. Take one look under the car and youll find a rigid four inch engineered round tube frame and a fully sorted modern double A-arm front a four link rear suspension are ready to take on the toughest curves you can find. Behind the engine, a rock solid 5-speed manual transmission which, like the motor, was rebuilt just over 1,000 miles ago, sends power to a proven 8.8 inch Ford 3.55 rear end which is stuffed with a stout Detroit Locker differential and new Richmond ring and pinion gears. At the front of the car, a billet Mustang power steering rack, thats complete with braided hoses, utilizes tubular upper control arms and high performance coil over shocks to make the most of the small blocks power. And at the corners of the car, manual front disc and rear drum brakes provide consistent, sure-footed stops that are all day long and all day strong. Power flows to the ground through classic 15 inch American Racing Torq Thrust Ds that are outfitted with billet center caps, no-leak valve stems and fresh 255/60 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And with its exceptionally high power to weight ratio, completely modern components and virtually unbreakable frame, this quick little roadster would likely have no problem out handling any traditional Cobra in the twisties!

This Cobra roadster was built to keep. And even though its cockpit still honors the purist nature of a no-nonsense track shredding sports car, many custom touches, which include a powerful Vintage Air climate control system, ratchet up both its appeal and street capability. At the center of the car, racing inspired black leather Corbeau seats, which look and feel as good as new, feature a lowered ride height, air adjustable lumbar and headrest support and high quality four point safety belts. At the sides of those seats, fully finished fiberglass doors have been fitted with traditional chrome handles and leather straps ...For more information please call the seller.
