The Pontiac GTO reached its performance zenith, as did most General Motors muscle cars, in 1970 when GM dropped its long-standing sanction against mid-size car engines larger than 400 cubic inches. That particular genie having been let out of the bottle, Pontiac Motor Division responded by stuffing the GTO with a new 455 CI engine rated at 360 HP at 4,300 RPM and a whopping 500 lb/ft of torque that was all in at just 2,700 RPM. Dubbed the 455 HO, it propelled the already potent GTO to 60 MPH in 6.6 seconds and scored mid-14-second quarter mile times while maintaining its luxury side with bold new styling and one of the nicest interiors ever seen in a muscle car. Those features and more grace this freshly restored Cardinal Red-on-Black 1970 GTO convertible, which also offers a Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, power steering and brakes, power top and windows, a Hurst shifter, hood tach, rear spoiler and Rally II wheels.
