This Classic Mercedes 230 Fin Tail in nice, but not perfect! This car starts immediately, runs nicely, drives nicely, and brakes nicely. When you put it in gear you feel that German transmission immediately engage and the car moves nicely when the accelerator is applied. It stops equally well when the brakes are applied. Mechanically this car is in good shape, certainly not perfect, but good. The transmission shifter linkage is not perfect and could use a rebuild, we experienced that the linkage could use a bushing to insure perfect operation. Again, operable but not perfect. The power brakes work well as does the emergency brake and when shifting things work smoothly and in harmony. The paint on the car is good, but again not perfect. The white has held up well, it is not original, and the chrome and bright work are also in good shape. There are a couple of spots that will need work at some point in the future (see the pictures). The wheel wells are in good shape, but there are some areas where there is visible rust. Nothing on the body will need to be done to simply drive the car as is, these are all issues that can be worked on while enjoying the car. The interior is in decent shape with the only issues on the drivers seat. The rest of the leather interior, including a very nicely headliner, is in very good condition as are the rugs. The upper dash, knobs, steering wheel, and controls all feel good in your hands, think Mercedes quality. The only issue is the lower dash pad is not in the car and one could be added, it is not required. So, if you are looking for a good short wheel base Mercedes 230 Fin Tail that runs, drives, and brakes then this is the car for you. If you do some work to this car, which you can complete yourself, then you will have a heck of a car that will last pretty much forever and that you could drive every single day.
