If you want attitude, few cars are more deserving of the name outlaw than this 1934 Ford 3-window coupe. The look just screams horsepower, but it also includes a whole host of comfort and convenience features that make it a pleasure to drive, so perhaps only the look has a hard edge. No real 1934 Ford coupes were harmed in the construction of this fantastic rod. Instead, its a Russ Nomore body, entirely crafted from fiberglass around a steel support structure. As youd expect, workmanship is outstanding, with gaps that would make a steel body blush and ultra-smooth flanks that show zero distortions. Searing red paint means keeping a low profile is entirely impossible, but thats no surprise considering the chopped roof, open hood sides, and color-matched grille shell. On the other hand, it carries neat details like cowl lights, scrolled door handles like the originals, and a very slick front bumper that offers at least a modicum of protection for the pointed grille itself. Simple round taillights are a traditional look, and the exposed gas tank has been painted to match the body, so it blends in invisibly and is protected by a stainless spreader bar. And with only about 950 shakedown miles on the build, everything is in exemplary, freshly-finished condition. Pull open one of the suicide-style doors and youll be blown away by the custom-stitched red leather interior. The front bench is covered in super soft ultra-leather with aggressive side bolsters that hold you in place like a bucket, and the door panels have been custom crafted to match. Daytona weave carpet on the floors are luxurious and help control noise and heat, while the headliner is taut and well-installed. The dash is a simple flat panel that replicates the shape of the original 1934 Ford piece, and offers a set of white-faced Dolphin gauges and billet vents for the Vintage Air HVAC system. A custom center console hold the controls for that HVAC system, plus power windows, lights and wipers, and the Lokar shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. A Secret Audio stereo system is controlled by a remote, but as the name implies, it stays out of sight. Custom storage behind the seats joins a fully upholstered trunk in making this a car built for road trips. The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevy crate motor with reworked heads, an Edelbrock Air Gap intake, Quik Fuel 750 CFM double-pumper carburetor, and a DUI HEI ignition system. All told, it makes 362 horsepower and 380 pounds of torque, which, in the lightweight Ford coupe, provides explosive performance. The built 700R4 transmission will handle 450 horsepower, so reliability is a non-issue, and it cruises effortlessly at supra-legal speeds thanks to a tall overdrive gear plus 3.77 gears in the 9-inch rear. The frame is also by Russ Nomore, and features a 4-inch dropped I-beam front suspension with disc brakes, while out back theres a triangulated 4-link setup with coil-overs. The exhaust features Flowmaster mufflers and stainless tips that just barely peek out from under the car. And for that perfect hi-boy stance, big-n-little radials are wrapped around polished Torque Thrust wheels. Al attitude, no hassles, this 34 Ford packs a traditional look and modern comfort.
