Description

In case you havent noticed, gas prices are on the way up, so what better way to enjoy a vintage drop-top than the affordable, efficient Ford Falcon. You may also have not seen one this nicely restored recently, and someone spent a lot more than the asking price to bring it up to this level. Its Wimbledon White, the classic Ford color that looks great on any mid-60s Ford product, particularly the Falcon and its cousin the Mustang. The restoration work is extremely impressive, with super straight sheetmetal that shows great attention to detail; just look at how sharp the character lines are, particularly around the rear quarters. Historians will recall that the Falcon is a unit-body, but the doors fit well and dont sag, and the gaps are even all around. With the round taillights and long stainless side trim, it almost looks like a miniature Galaxie, which was the top-of-the-line Futuras mission. The paint has an awesome shine that isnt too hard for a 50-year-old convertible, making this a car that will look awesome anywhere it goes. The chrome has been restored, all the stainless has been polished, and the emblems look crisply rendered. The Futuras interior was dressed up like a mini Thunderbird, complete with bucket seats and a neat center console with a good-sized storage compartment. Fresh two-tone blue upholstery looks a lot more expensive than the sticker price would suggest, and its matched by a pair of gorgeous door panels with bright metal inserts and fresh carpets on the floors. The dash pad hasnt been baked by the sun, and the beautifully restored white steering wheel, complete with horn ring, offers fantastic contrast. The instruments are original and might be showing their age a bit, but they work correctly, and theres an AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash. You can get a good idea of the quality of the restoration with a glance at the power convertible top, which has been finished in dark blue vinyl, giving the car a high-end, color-coordinated look, along with a crystal clear rear window. The trunk is also fully restored, with a correct mat and spare tire cover, along with a complete jack assembly. The lightweight Falcon carried a 170 cubic inch inline six that was all about fuel economy. However, it scoots around town and feels lively from behind the wheel and has a great six-cylinder burble from the single tailpipe out back. The block wears Ford Blue paint, and the bright orange valve cover makes it look sporty, and while its not totally correct it does look quite corporate. The rest of the powertrain is made up of a Ford-O-Matic 2-speed automatic and a 3.50 gearset out back, so the Falcon zips around town without working hard. The floors are shockingly clean, suggesting that this car has lived a long, healthy life someplace warm and youll have no worries about this unit-body ragtop getting weak in the middle. It also wears whitewall radials on a set of wire wheelcovers that were part of the Sprint package, so it has the right look. With extensive restoration receipts and photos, you can buy this Falcon with confidence without spending too much. Drop-top Ford fun at a bargain price. Call now!
