The 1996 cars got a minor facelift as well including revised front fender vents body colored bumpers. Two-tone leather gives the SL600 a sporty appearance and the warm wood trim throughout the passenger cabin gives it an appropriately luxurious feel.
But those big bolsters grab you and hold on tight for spirited driving. The leather remains in excellent condition with very little wear and certainly no signs of damage or neglect. Everything was standard on the SL600 including climate control dual power seats a built-in cellular phone system and a powerful entertainment system with a CD changer in the trunk. Deep carpets give the interior a hushed ambiance no doubt assisted by the removable hardtop and matching soft top. Content to idle around town with nary a whisper it can deliver heart-stopping acceleration and seems to do it effortlessly.
With so few miles this one is in excellent running condition and has been properly serviced all its life. A 5-speed automatic transmission was new in 1996 giving the V12 long legs and decent fuel economy as well. The adjustable suspension works properly the massive brakes are powerful.
