Description

If you like your Chevys clean, simple, and elegant, perhaps this low-key 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air will light a few fires. But subtle doesnt mean bland, because it also packs a rumbling V8, plenty of creature comforts, and the most beautiful interior youve ever seen in a Shoebox. Depending on the light, the paint is either dark green or black, and our cameras dont quite capture the depth and shine that the Jade Green finish carries. Its the kind of paint that would look at home on a six-figure luxury car from the Old World, and it gets far more attention than bright red when bright red is all you see around it. The stock sheetmetal is in exemplary condition, thanks to a frame-off rebuild, and no modifications mean that this one keeps all the wonderful details that made this car a world-changing event when it hit the market. Theres plenty of metallic and pearl in the paint, so it shimmers and glows in the sun, and complimented by freshly polished stainless Bel Air trim, this car is an eyeball magnet without being all loud about it. You can see in the reflections how straight the panels are and how well they line up, but also take the time to notice that the trim was expertly fitted and lines up neatly from fender-to-door and back again. Correct Bel Air badges, a California-style 1-piece bumpers, and all the other brightwork have all been finished to show standards. The tan leatherette interior will simply blow you away with its simplicity and elegance. The color combination is classic and far more subtle than anything they were doing in the US in 1955, but it totally works. A split bench combines practicality and handsome good looks, and the rear seat was upholstered to match with plenty of room for passengers. Dig the cutout between the front seats for the 4-speed shifter, which uses a Hurst linkage and white cue ball, just like youd expect. The original dash has been restored and offers a column-mounted tach, auxiliary gauges underneath, plus a wood-rimmed steering wheel that only ups the elegance factor inside. A/C was added under the dash, and for entertainment theres a digital AM/FM/CD stereo system. With the big trunk finished to original specs save for the space-saver spare (a smart idea), this car calls out for a road trip. Dressed in lots of billet and chrome, the 350 cubic inch small block fits like it belongs there because the 1955 Chevy is where it was born. Theres a 350 horsepower decal on the chrome air cleaner, and whether thats the truth will become apparent when you crack the throttle. Goodies from Edelbrock, Trick Flow, and Flowmaster help generate horsepower, and the engine bay is sanitary and clean, but not so over-detailed that youre afraid to turn the key. Power rack-and-pinion steering and power disc brakes have been added, and there are 3.55 gears out back, so it cruises easily without beating you up on the highway. Floors are clean, and it rides on classic Rallys with 225/70/15 blackwall BFGs that totally stuff the big wheel arches. Timeless and extremely well built, this 55 Chevy hits all the high notes if youre the kind of guy who likes to keep a low profile. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
