The first generation Bronco obviously had the Jeep squarely in its sights, but by using many suspension components from the popular F100 pickup trucks, the Fords were even more rugged and suited to off road use than the Jeeps of the era. Like most trucks from the ‘60s, most were used hard and then used again. Once used up for street use, many were then rebuilt for extreme off-roading, with huge tires and suspension, and they are still coveted for that use. That makes an uncut ’68 like this one even more significant. The 1968 models are the last Broncos with a fold-down windscreen, and of course, a fully removable hard top. Ford added a rear-mounted spare as standard, and 1968 was the start of side marker lights as well. This example has just 80,000 actual miles, and was recently restored in the original colors of blue and white. The paint, interior, and wheels and tires are new, and everything presents well detailed and correct. The Bronco has power steering and brakes, bucket seats, and an AM/FM Stereo. This is a solid vehicle that can be shown as is, or enjoyed off road, or maybe even a little of both. The frame and engine bay are highly detailed, leaving the new owner in a quandary – after all, the 289 V-8 has plenty of torque, and when combined with the 92” wheelbase, these Broncos are nimble and right at home off-road, so you’ll want to drive it, but it’s clean enough to show right now. The previous owners obviously chose to baby this Bronco, giving you the chance to enjoy a Gen 1 Bronco just as it rolled out of Dearborn in 1968.
