For Sale: 1948 Chrysler Town & Country in Conroe, Texas

Vehicle Description

The lovely 1948 Town & Country we have the pleasure of representing is a highly original, three-owner car that has been lovingly restored. Finished in Catalina Tan, with a newer tan canvas convertible top, it is an exceptionally attractive example. The ash wood framing is original to the car, and during restoration it was completely stripped, lightly sanded to perfection, and completely refinished. Continuing around the car, the chrome has a deep, bright finish and is in very good condition. The stainless brightwork is very nice, and the glass appears to be new with no damages or defects evident. The trunk has been finished with the correct maroon cloth trunk mat with maroon sideboards, and a spare wide whitewall tire is fitted. The seats and door panels are trimmed in sporty maroon leather with tan cloth inserts, and correct style carpeting was also installed. At the heart of the attractive and spacious cabin, the original steering wheel and lavish dashboard, including instruments and chrome, are in crisp, clean condition. There is nothing to do but turn the key and enjoy driving one of the great classics of all time, as the car operates with authority. The engine compartment is tidy and correct with everything nicely detailed, including the 135 horsepower Spitfire inline eight-cylinder engine, which is mated to the innovative Chrysler Fluid-Drive transmission. One of only 3,309 examples built in 1948, this Town & Country Convertible was purchased well equipped, with a single driver’s side spotlight, factory clock and radio, and twin rear view mirrors. A rare and always valued detail, the original owner’s manual is also included in the sale. The 1948 Chrysler Town & Country represents a link to the custom coach builders of the past, and is still an exquisite car, and this example shows exactly why it was one of the most expensive and desirable luxury cars of the era.
