Description

With Corvettes, the investment-grade specimens share a few things in common: Matching numbers, a manual transmission, and a great color combination are important, and this 1965 Corvette roadster meets all the important criteria. Believed to be a 2 owner car and finished to original specifications, including the gorgeous code F Nassau Blue paint, this Corvette roadster is one of those rare cars that can be driven and enjoyed while it appreciates as an investment. And now that Corvettes are grade-A collectables, theres no excuse for half-hearted restorations, so this one was treated to some expert work. The fiberglass body is super straight, with crisp body lines and doors that close with that unique Corvette sound. Two-stage urethane paint replicates the original hue, a soft medium blue with a modest amount of metallic in it, so it plays quite well on the C3s dramatic shape. Lots of time was spend on buffing and polishing the final result, and with only a handful of miles since it was completed, its still ready to show. They didnt take any liberties with the car, either, so it wears a correct hood, reproduction badges, and brightly chromed bumpers that were restored to show standards. The trim tag calls the interior STD or standard, but its anything but. Corvette stylists were hitting on all 8 cylinders when the Stingray was designed, so you get a gorgeous, well-detailed interior thats uniquely American with a lot of European influences. The black bucket seats wear reproduction seat covers that match the originals exactly, with great detail and no wrinkles. New carpets and door panels help add to the fresh feeling inside, and there are freshly rebuilt gauges in the instrument panel. The only deviation from stock is the AM/FM stereo radio in the center stack, but it accurately replicates the Corvettes original vertical orientation. Theres a fresh convertible top that fits so well we were almost afraid to put it down, and the crystal clear rear window looks like new. And yes, that tag is supposed to be there. Numbers matching is critical on an investment-grade Corvette, and the L30 327/250 under the hood is this cars original engine. Rebuilt to stock specs and fully detailed, its ready to be judged or to hit the road. Correct Chevy Orange paint covers all the engine surfaces, and they did it right by painting the engine after it was assembled so it looks like it did on the showroom floor. Reproduction decals, blue-stripe hoses, and tower hose clamps are the little things that make a big difference, and the decals on the valve covers leave no doubt about the state of tune. Both exhaust manifolds are original pieces that have been refinished and attached to a reproduction exhaust system that sounds right. Chassis components are correctly detailed with factory-style paint daubs, rebuilt brakes and suspension, and beautifully refinished floors. Up close youll see a composite leaf spring in the rear suspension which is a nearly invisible way to improve both ride and handling, and still keep it all Corvette. Knock-off wheels with spinners look awesome on any C3 Corvette and they wear 205/75/15 whitewall radials. Still modestly priced, this 1965 roadster is a car you can show with pride, drive with a big grin on your face, and will always be worth at least what youve spent on it. Call today!
