Description

The Oldsmobile 88 was a full-size car sold by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors and produced from 1949 until 1999. From 1950 to 1974 the 88 was the division's top-selling line, particularly the entry-level models such as the 88 and Dynamic 88. The 88 series was also an image leader for Oldsmobile, particularly in the early years, when it was one of the best performing automobiles thanks to its relatively small size, light weight and advanced overhead-valve high-compression V8 engine originally designed for the larger C-bodied and more luxurious 98 series but it also replaced thestraight-8 on the smaller B-bodied 78, creating what was considered the predecessor of muscle cars of the 1960s. The 88 enjoyed a great success, inspiring a popular 1950s slogan, "Make a Date with a Rocket 88", and also a song, "Rocket 88", often considered the first rock and roll record. Starting with the trunk-lid emblem of the 1950 model, Oldsmobile would adopt the rocket as its logo, and the 88 name would remain in the Olds lineup until the late 1990s, almost until the end of Oldsmobile itself. MotoeXotica is proud to offer this drop dead gorgeous 1952 Oldsmobile Super Deluxe 88 Convertible. Known as the "Rocket 88," this car is the recipient of a full on, down to nuts & bolts restoration ... and it looks incredible! Recently, over $8,000 dollars was recently spent with "Only Yesterday" of Sorrento Valley California on brakes, steering, rear suspension, gas tank, Carb, charging system and alignment issues, to insure the car is properly tuned. This car recently came out of a prominent collection that included some of the best cars in the country. His handpicked collection is still breaking records today. Finished in the beautiful shade of Royal Turquoise, not a single inch of this Olds was over looked during its restoration. The paint has no notable imperfections and has an incredible shine. The chrome, from the bumpers to the large hood ornament, is in excellent shape. They appear to have been rechromed during its restoration and have an incredible shine with no notable imperfections. All the stainless has also been refinished to a mirror finish. The power top is also in excellent condition, with no notable imperfections. This is the perfect eye catching convertible for Sunday drives on a sunny day! Inside, you'll see that the Olds is completely true to its era as it is complete with genuine red leather interior. The front and back seats are in immaculate shape with no notable signs of wear or imperfections. The carpet and door panels are also red and in excellent shape, which look great! The dashboard looks fantastic and is reminiscent of an airplane with its in-dash compass, deluxe radio and the steering wheel housed, self winding clock. Under the hood, you'll see that the engine bay is very clean and as well detailed as the rest of the car. Like we said, not a single detail was overlooked in this restoration! In between the engine bay walls sits the 303 cubic inch Rocket V8, capable of up to 160 horsepower, is complete with the original "Oldsmobile Rocket" valve covers that look great. Attached to the V8 is the famous Hydramatic automatic transmission. Transferring the ponies to the ground are the correct Oldsmobile wheels wrapped in wide white wall radial tires. The wheels and tires look absolutely beautiful and really set off the classic restoration. The underside of this incredible vehicle is just as nice as the top with new components throughout and great attention to detail. It's not very often that one of these classic Oldsmobile Convertible's goes up for sale to the public in such incredible shape. This car would make a perfect addition to any car collection and is a great investment vehicle. This convertible is truly ready to be enjoyed! The VIN on this Olds is AZ334788 and the mileage currently shows 05,858. This car is being sold on a clean California title.
