Description

The Buick LeSabre is a full-size luxury car made by the Buick division of General Motors from 1959-2005. For many years, the LeSabre was considered the entry level full-size Buick, carrying the lowest base price in the Buick lineup. Prior to 1959, that position had been held by the full-size Buick Special model; in 1959 the LeSabre replaced the Special, a nameplate that was reintroduced in 1961 for Buick's line of compact cars. The name originated with the 1951 Buick LeSabre show car designed by Harley Earl. LeSabre and all other full-sized Buicks (joined by the compact Special this year) were completely restyled for 1961 featuring finless rear ends, more restrained use of chrome, and boxier sheet metal. Wheelbases remained at 123 inches but the new cars were slightly downsized in both length and width, and rode on a new X-frame chassis which included a conventional rear axle and driveshaft replacing the decades-old torque tube design. The car you see here is a true, 81,000 ORIGINAL survivor. This '61 Buick LeSabre two door hardtop "Bubbletop" is an all original car with the exception of one repaint. The interior is all original as well as the engine and transmission which are said to be numbers matching for the car. The paint on the car is older but is finished in the original color of Arctic White with a Dublin Green top. The paint looks beautiful with only minor rock chips showing from age. The bumpers have been rechromed and are in great condition with only some minor scratching. They retain a great shine and luster. The rest of the stainless around the car is equally as nice. Inside the car, you'll see that it's all original and in great overall condition. Finished in green vinyl and cloth, there are only some minor splits in the seams to the driver's side seat. The rest of the seat looks to be in wonderful, original condition. The carpet, kick panels, door panels and headliner are all original as well and in good, original condition as well as the dash. Once you sit in this car, you'll fall back into the early 1960s within seconds. Under the hood, you'll find the correct, 364 cubic inch V8 within the walls of the engine bay attached to an automatic transmission. This car does have power steering. The original Buick wheels are wrapped in good P225/75R15 tires. The trunk is original and includes a full size spare and jack. No rot to be found in the trunk or underneath the car. The underside of this car has NEVER been undercoated and you can see the bare metal! The VIN is 4H2012026 and the current mileage shows 81,430 which is original for the car.
