Description

Fans of American cars of the 1930s know well that the 1939 Fords, including the 1939 Ford Deluxe, adopted hydraulic brakes. After years of stubbornly resisting this advance in engineering as market rivals Plymouth and then Chev-rolet adopted it, Henry Ford abruptly reversed course in time for juice brakes to be applied to most 39 Ford Motor Company cars. The base Standard series, powered by the 60-bhp economy version of the Ford flathead V-8 hooked to a three-speed floorshift transmission, also sported year-old frontal styling on a limited number of body styles. This 1939 Ford Standard Two Door Sedan that you see here comes finished in the original color of Burgundy and has benefitted from an older restoration. The deep burgundy paint appears to have been repainted in the last few years and is in very good, overall condition. Both bumpers shine bright and have only minor pitting. All of the stainless trim on the car looks great and maintains its original shine from way back when. The glass appears to be nearly all original and does show some delaminating along with some cracking to the weather stripping. When you get into the car, youll find that the interior is in excellent shape and has been reupholstered in the original colors and style. The seats are recovered in a lovely gray and show no apparent wear marks. The headliner is in great shape as well. The dash appears to be original with only a few imperfections that look to be from aging over the past 74 years of this sedans life! With a twist of the hood ornament, you can open the hood to reveal a very clean engine bay that houses the 221 cubic inch, flathead V8 that is connected to a 3-speed manual transmission. This is a three speed manual on the floor which is much more desirable and easier to drive then the three speed on the column. The body colored wheels are covered with mini moon V8 hubcaps and wrapped in newer, white wall tires. The VIN number for this Ford is 85158803 and the current mileage shows 82,968.
