Here is a dynamite SUV. The Cayenne really lives up to the Porsche name, injecting speed, handling, and luxury into the ordinary world of SUVs. This 2006 Cayenne S Titanium Edition is loaded with features and is an excellent example of just how much fun you can have with an SUV.
This beautiful one-owner vehicle has 99,500 miles and is in perfect operating condition. The Titanium is a US-only edition that sets you up with bi-xenon headlights, 19-inch wheels, silver leather seats with black inserts, front and rear heated seats, heated side mirrors, silver trimmed instruments, steering wheel controls, tinted glass, and a navigation system with 6.5" color LCD. Not to mention the additional badging. This vehicle also has a heated steering wheel, power seats with memory, an amazing Bose audio system, dual automatic climate control, sunroof, and much more than can be listed here. This all adds up to a sticker price of nearly $70,000.
Let's continue with the driveline. The Cayenne S model is equipped with Porsche's 340hp 4.5L DOHC aluminum V8 featuring variable valve timing and a dry-sump oil system (very rare for a consumer vehicle). This is backed by a six-speed Tiptronic transmission which allows automatic or manual operation (with excellent rev matching). The all-wheel drive system provides flexible on- and off-road settings with locking center and rear differentials. And while the Cayenne S is plenty fast, it also provides a surprising 7,700 pounds of towing capacity.
The interior is extremely comfortable. The seats are oh-so-nice and feel just right for a vehicle like this, and the temperature control is top notch. The silver-and-black theme looks beautiful and everything is in fantastic condition, free of any rips or bad odors (unless you don't like the smell of German leather). The highway ride is remarkably smooth; you'd never guess this is a vehicle with such off-road capabilities.
But the Cayenne's handling is what really sets it apart from the SUV crowd. The Cayenne's AWD system normally sends most of its power to the rear wheels, which is the opposite of most other setups. This gives a more sporty feel, though the system can still send power to any wheel as needed. The steering is unlike anything else in this category and has great feedback. Run this Porsche through a tight set of turns and you'll find the the transmission, throttle and brakes can all contribute to the surprising handling.
There is much more to this amazing vehicle than can be listed here (the owners manual is more than 400 pages). But bells and whistles aside, it's the drive that really makes the Cayenne special. There's no better way to redefine your daily transportation.
