As indicated by the build sheet, this is a factory SS built at Van Nuys CA. Originally Placer Gold, it was restored (frame-on) in 2006 and repainted Cranberry Red with black stripes. It sports a black vinyl top with matching tonneau cover and custom bed mat. There are no leaks or rust anywhere on the vehicle. The original engine and transmission were replaced with a rebuilt 350 4BBL and 350 TH from a mid 70s Corvette, all stock except for a mild cam, HEI distributor, and magnaflow dual exhaust. The original 12 bolt 3.73 posi was replaced with a 10 bolt open-end with 2.56 gears. While this combination is not well suited to the drag strip, it will consistently yield 17 mpg at 70 mph. Options include tachometer and gauge package, automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt wheel, and tinted windows. All gauges work although the clock no longer keeps accurate time. Upgrades include a retro style digital remote controlled AM-FM stereo with MP3 jack and rear speakers. Not a flawless trailer queen but this vehicle will usually place 2nd or 3rd in original truck class at local shows. You will have a hard time finding a cleaner, more original looking 1972 El Camino SS with build sheet for the price.
