NEW PRICE! 3015 original miles (not a misprint). Stunning Light Red Metallic with 2-tone Rose and Burgundy leather interior. All options including moonroof. 100% original including tires, belts, hoses. Runs & drives like new.

If you’re a fan of the Mark V or the period in which it was built, you might agree that the dazzling Light Red Metallic finish is ideal for this incredible heavy cruiser. It’s quite lovely in person, with a wonderful glow that makes it seem iridescent in the right light. There are virtually zero marks on the paint beyond two or three tiny nicks on the nose in the typical locations, and of course it has never been rusty or hit. Other details, including the padded landau roof, the chrome bumpers and grille, and color-matched body side moldings are in exemplary condition. There’s a single burgundy pinstripe running from end to end, a distance of more than 19 feet! Both headlight doors operate correctly, as do the cornering lights and power moonroof, which was a relatively rare option in 1979.

The two-tone rose and burgundy leather interior is pure disco-age style that matches the bodywork perfectly. And like the exterior, the interior is wonderfully preserved and in virtually new condition. The driver’s seat may show a few comfort marks on the leather, but absolutely no damage, staining, or even scuffs on the seating surface, and the passenger’s seat and back seat are like new. The instrument panel is full of gauges that were clearly inspired by high-end clocks, and everything works, including the Cartier chronograph in the center of the dash. It appears that this Mark V carries every available option and feature, ranging from the moon roof to A/C to dual power seats, all of which function properly. Even the trunk is immaculately dressed in its original gray lining and includes the original, unused spare tire and full jack assembly still in its matching bag.

The only engine available in the 1979 Mark V was the venerable 402 cubic inch V8. Yes, we have driven the car, but only enough to ensure that it is mechanically sound, especially since those are the original 225-15 Michelin whitewall tires. The engine bay is clean and just the way the factory delivered it, including all inspection marks, decals, and finishes, and it shows no signs of deterioration on any of the critical components. Plugs, wires, belts, hoses, and all other service items are original, save for the fuel pump which was replaced due to the long storage.

This car was not undercoated, which is a delightful change of pace and makes for a very clean presentation. The satin black paint on the floors remains unblemished and all the suspension components show original markings. That’s the original exhaust, spotless original gas tank, and all the lines and hoses are untouched. The original alloy wheels are unmarked save for some minor discoloration of the clearcoat on the outer edges, which appears to be common to these cars for some reason. And as I mentioned, those are 1979-vintage Michelin whitewall radials which should be preserved with the car for HPOF competition, but if your intention is to drive it, then a new set of tires might be a wise investment.

If you are looking for the absolute finest Mark V in existence, this could very well be it. It is made all the more remarkable due to its outrageous color combination and lengthy options list, making it perhaps the ultimate expression of the marque. Not cheap, but if there’s a Mark V that is destined to reset the bar, this is most certainly it.
