Description

Stk. 1687 1966 Volkswagen 13 Window Deluxe Bus

Can you say "Road Trip"? No other car quite says "The Open Road" like a VW bus. Believe me when I say this one is spectacular! This locally owned 1966 13-window beauty was the recipient of a full rotisserie restoration that was almost two years in the making. The Turkis Green and Blue White paint scheme lovingly applied to the exterior…continues indoors as the ideal interior theme as well. Upon opening the double doors up to nine passengers can enter and enjoy the great comfort found in its generous bench seats. Marvel at the sight and smell of factory fresh carpeting and vinyl trim throughout. Climbing behind the wheel you take in the perfect chrome rimmed gauges, the petite white knobbed shifter rising from the ribbed rubber flooring and… an unobstructed view through its two piece windshield. And if you're very, very quiet…the ticking of its dash mounted clock still running after all these years. Walk around to the back, lift the engine compartment and behold, a fully detailed and rebuilt to stock 1600cc motor with a single, downdraft progressive two barrel Weber carburetor. Lurking under the rear bumper handling exhaust duty is a stainless-steel extractor style exhaust. Underneath are rock solid floor pans front to rear painted in body color with the same level of perfection as on top. As you might expect with this level of restoration, all suspension components are new. From the Type 1 swing axle- rear end to the Wagon West, 4" narrow beam front axle with two and a half inch drop spindles. Ditto on the tasty and high performance Wilwood disc brake calipers and rotors at all four corners. All wiring has been replaced to ensure the utmost in electrical reliability and a liberal amount of Dynamat has been used throughout to dampen unwanted road noise to the interior. To top all of that off, as if you didn't have enough room already, is a beautiful teakwood roof rack. The only thing left to decide is where your first adventure in this will be to.
