Cars like this 1955 Chevy require two things: time and money. Packing a beautifully detailed 330 horsepower small block under the hood and a 50s perfect two-tone color scheme, this is a car that everyone can appreciate. Fast, reliable, and gorgeous, its everything the original designers wished the 1955 Chevy could be. This car was originally the very combination you see here: code 627 Shadow Gray over Coral, and its probably even more stunning today than it was in 1955. The bodywork is straight enough that NASA can come and calibrate their instruments using its surface, and the car fits together extremely well. The paint was done a few years ago, but the net results is that the car has a soft glow that is perfect for the era and helps camouflage the performance machine that lurks underneath. Theres just the right amount of metallic in the Shadow Gray to give it a 1955 vibe, so it doesnt have that modern, awkward look that some resto-mods get with modern hues. All the original trim is intact, which also means someone spent enough restoring it to put a kid through college. Detailing is crisp, and there are virtually zero flaws in the brightwork. In person, this car is impossible to ignore. The restoration of the interior was inspired by factory specs, with a few notable exceptions. The seats wear bright new seat covers that match the body and replicate the factory patterns, and the door panels were stitched to match. Fresh carpets show expert binding work, and youll note the A/C has been carefully integrated in a panel below the dash. Original gauges have been restored and site behind a custom billet steering wheel atop a polished tilt column, and theyre augmented by a trio of instruments under the dash. The fully lined trunk is a no-nonsense way to travel, includes a full-sized spare and jack. Power comes from a well-dressed 350 cubic inch crate motor rated at 330 horsepower. With a Holley carb atop an aluminum intake, its a snap to maintain and drives extremely well. Liberal doses of chrome plating make the engine bay glitter, and bright Chevy Orange paint on the block itself is a great link to the past. The A/C is filled with R134a refrigerant, which makes for easy maintenance, and the power brakes offer a dual master cylinder for safety. A 700R4 4-speed automatic feeds 3.55 gears in the rear end, making cruising a pleasure, and the suspension and brakes have been fully rebuilt. It rides on a set of chrome Rally wheels with 225/70/15 Goodyear white-letter radials. Its rare to see cars this nice, and when one like this shows up at a cruise night or car show, its obvious where the big money was spent.
