1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible For Sale in our Chicagoland Showroom. This 63 Vette has 112200 original miles on the SC code 327 CID 250HP 4brl engine and Powerglide transmission. The cylinder heads have been reworked so the engine can run unleaded gas. There is an Edelbrock (AFB style) carburetor. Options on this Corvette are power steering, power windows, seat belts, hard and manual soft top, hub caps, full factory gauges, non working clock, aftermarket AM/FM cassette radio, and white wall radial tires. The suspension has newer front end parts and brand new rear springs. The original color repaint is 5 years old. Introducing a new name, \Sting Ray\, the 1963 model was the first year for a Corvette coup and it featured a distinctive tapering rear deck (a feature that later reappeared on the 1971 \Boattail\ Buick Riviera) with, for 1963 only, a split rear window. The Sting Ray featured hidden headlamps, non-functional hood vents, and an independent rear suspension with single transverse leaf spring. The rest of the Sting Ray design was equally stunning. Quad headlamps were retained but newly hidden - the first American car so equipped since the 1942 DeSoto. The lamps were mounted in rotating sections that matched the pointy front end with the \eyes\ closed. The Corvette continued to use hidden headlamps until the C6 model debuted in 2005. Coupe doors were cut into the roof, which made entry/exit easier in such a low-slung closed car. Faux vents were located in the hood and on the coupe\s rear pillars; functional ones had been intended but were cancelled due to cost considerations. This 1963 Corvette Convertible can be seen at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, and is located in the Tinley Park, IL showroom, which can be reached at 708 444 4488.
