1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Coupe: This Corvette was purchased new by ROBERT PHELPS the famous collector. With only 28100 miles this ZR1 is all original with a 6 speed transmission, Delco cassette sound system, power heated mirrors, power door locks, power windows, and cruise control. It has been fitted with Green-style full ground effects and rear spoiler. Other additions include Borla Mufflers. This is not a car for the timid! The highly anticipated ZR1 Corvette was introduced in 1990. It was to be the fastest Corvette ever with an approximate maximum speed of 180 mph, doing 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, making it the quickest acceleration production car in the world. It quickly became the King of the Hill. Everything about the car, including drivability, performance, and the need to meet federal emission and mileage rules was computer controlled. The ZR1 was the most expensive GM automobile ever made but compared to other super cars of the time it was comparatively inexpensive. The single most important item that makes the ZR1 special is the engine. The LT5, designed by Lotus, is an incredibly complex V-8, all alloy engine. It was based on the standard Corvette engine configuration but improved upon by the addition of four overhead camshafts operating four valves per cylinder, giving a total of 32 valves. The LT5 engine was boosted by its air intake system that can either take oxygen from a single narrow throttle valve or from a wide mouth intake, depending on the pressure applied to the accelerator. The engines were manufactured and assembled by Mercury Marine of Oklahoma then shipped to Bowling Green KY for the final installation. LOTS of paper work with this Corvette.
