For many people around the world the Jeep 4x4 stands for much that is good about America: honesty, reliability, ruggedness, straightforward and strong. Conceived by American Bantam in the waning days of the Great Depression, perfected and produced in vast quantities by Willys and Ford during World War II, Jeeps were seen all over the world, from the jungles of the Philippines to the frozen wastes of Russia. Production continued after the war with Willys when this 1952 M38 was built. A direct adaptation of Willys Motors postwar civilian Jeep, the CJ-3A, the M38 benefits from a strengthened frame and suspension, larger tires, waterproof 24 volt electrical system and full-floating rear axle as well as many military-adapted accessories. This 1952 Willys M38 Jeep is from the last year of production before changeover to the F-head M38-A1 and has been completely restored to nearly like-new condition in olive drab with matching canvas upholstery and top. It has all the right Jeep stuff: shovel, axe, jerry can and spare. The tires are new and it runs and drives well, as a correctly restored and mechanically sorted Truck, Utility: 1/4-Ton 4x4 should.
