Still widely regarded as one of the best sedans ever built, the Mercedes-Benz 600 marked the ascendancy of the Stuttgart marque back to the pinnacle of luxury, performance and prestige just twenty years after the end of World War II. The 600 had everything that an increasingly wealthy upper class could want, including performance with 300 horsepower and 434 lb-ft torque from the 6.3 liter overhead camshaft fuel injected light alloy V-8 engine. A comfortable yet competent ride was assured with fully independent suspension on load-compensating air springs. There were disc brakes all around, central door locks, power steering and two separate climate control systems. This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB Sedan is a sound, consistently maintained four private owner example with service records through 1982 that has had no-expense-spared cosmetic and mechanical restoration to bring it into superb, correct, satisfying mechanical and cosmetic condition. Receipts documented with photos with the car from Pebble Beach-winning restoration specialist total over $185,000 since 2006. Its documentation includes prior registrations, the original M-B computer punch cards documenting its original configuration, original service booklet with stamps and the warranty and delivery booklets, owners manual and wiring diagram. Finished in rich burgundy, it has a new Mercedes-Benz branded battery and correct size radial whitewall tires. This is one of the finest Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB available. Its a superbly beautiful example, in great running, driving condition that commands respect on the road or in town. Quality and performance always stand out and this 600 has both.
