Description

From the Wellborn Museum Collection!  This 1967 Charger, is the original Hemi Charger built by Dodge to impress at the 1967 International Auto Show held in Toronto, Canada .  This is car #1 of 2 in the Chrysler Registry built to Canadian Spec's.    1 of only 118 Hemi Chargers built in 1967, this famous Hemi has undergone a complete nut and bolt rotisserie restoration and retains its matching numbers motor and transmission.  Documentation includes Fender Tag decode by Galen Govier, the original broadcast sheet and fender tag, and a full owner history traced back to original owner including several registrations dating back to the mid 1970's.   It has also been featured on the January 2001 issue of Mopar Collector’s Guide.
Most Hemi Cars were built with very limited options. Being a show car, this one is loaded to the hilt:   Power front disc brakes Power steering Power windows (very rare on ANY Charger) Tinted glass Bumper guards Console mounted clock Dual chrome outside mirrors Mag-style wheel covers Polyglass red stripe tires Very limited rear factory installed three-piece NASCAR Spoiler     As with every car that has a story, there are some remarkable traits particular to this car.   She was painted WW1 Corporate White to accentuate her lines under intensity of the auto-show lights.   The A-Arms and K-Member were painted glossy black since it was displayed on an elevated table.   Another show car quirk is the chromed Power Steering Cap.   This is not an aftermarket piece; it has been on the car since new.
Most Chargers came with carpeted trunk floors because the seats fold down to create one large space.   This car came with the plaid rubber trunk mat.  Perhpas they ran out of carpet?    Another sign of the frenetic speed at which Detriot churned out cars in the 60's is the installation of the 3-piece “NASCAR” spoiler.   It was mounted backward at the factory and remains that way still.   The careful restoration of this Hemi Charger progressed over several years, as suitable NOS and original parts were located. The Hemi was taken down to the block by Rini Brothers Racing Engines. Cylinder walls were sleeved and bored the required .030 over otherwise the Hemi was rebuilt to 100% factory stock specs.   A bundle of time and money has been invested in making this car look as good as it did the day Dodge unveiled it to the world.   The only possible area of improvement on the car is the gauge cluster and bezel.   The bezel is original and in very good condition, but not concourse.   It can be sent out to a specialty shop to be refurbished, but the current has opted to keep it as is.
The rest of the car is beautiful, to say the least.  Arrow straight is the best way to describe the body.  The undercarriage shows as crisp and white as the rest of the body.    The engine compartment probably looks better then when it left the factory.   The car has been driven the car approximately 1200 miles since the restoration. It is usually trailered to shows of any distance.
