Most car guys agree that the first-generation Buick Riviera is one of the most stunning designs of the 60s, but who says you cant make a great car better? This spectacular 1965 Riviera custom is a persuasive argument that proves that great design never goes out of fashion. Hailing from Texas, this zero-rust Riv was stripped to bare metal and refinished from there. The iconic shape, gorgeous creases, and above-average build quality all remained with the car, and aside from a modest shaving of emblems, it is just the way Bill Mitchell envisioned it. Heck, its probably even closer to the car in his imagination now than it was sitting in 1965 showrooms. PPG supplied the paint system, including the tinted primers and multi-stage urethane Copperhead Pearl Metallic paint that give this Riviera its spectacular shine. And the 65 Riv is the one to own, with its unique clamshell headlights, a one-year-only setup that had been planned from the start but only technically feasible in 65. All the chrome and stainless has been restored to show condition, including those headlight doors, and it presents a stunning contrast to the brilliant copper paint. If you want to get noticed, this car will certainly do it! At first glance, the interior looks pretty stock, but then you run your fingers across the brand new ultra-leather upholstery and you realize that virtually everything inside has been refinished, re-created, and restored. The original bucket seats remain, and the fresh upholstery mimics the original styling, so it stays subtle. Factory gauges have been rebuilt and include an ultra-rare accessory tachometer. All the switchgear, including the stylized automatic transmission shifter, has been attended to and this is still the most stylish driving environment ever in a Buick. A powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system has been fitted, along with Rockford-Fosgate speakers and an 8-inch Infiniti subwoofer and amplifier. Its also equipped with power windows, a tilt column, and rare cruise control, in addition to factory A/C. The trunk has been upholstered in matching copper carpets and new weatherstripping throughout ensures that its tight and quiet at speed. An original Buick 401 cubic inch Nailhead V8 is still fitted between the pontoon fenders, and while its not the numbers-matching unit, thats really not the point anymore. Its fully rebuilt with a 1967 spread-bore intake, an 850 CFM carburetor, and those gorgeous Offenhauser finned valve covers. The list of new equipment is extensive, ensuring that this car runs as great as it looks and with only 10,000 miles on the drivetrain, this one is just as well sorted as its looks would suggest. Underneath youll find a fully custom exhaust system with Dynomax X-chamber mufflers for a great mellow sound, spotless floors, and a TH400 3-speed automatic feeding 3.42 gears out back. The suspension has been fully rebuilt, and that low stance comes from custom springs that lower the car 3.5 inches all around. Hiding inside those gorgeous alloys are 4-wheel discs from SSBC and it wears 235/40/18 front and 275/35/20 rear low-profile radials. Spectacular in every sense of the word, this Riviera is a show-stopper that drives every bit as amazing as it looks. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
