This is a gorgeous full restoration of the famous Series 62 convertible, the classic American icon of the 1950s. This Cadillac was restored in 2008 by the consignor, George. He bought the car in New Hamshire with an older restorationof a 55,000 mile car with white livery with red and white interior. It was in nice condition when George bought it five years ago.
After he bought it he set outto complete frame up restoration. He preferred a black color scheme and thereforehad a base coat clear coat black paint job applied with gorgeous black leather interior installed. The body was stripped down to the cowl with all fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid removed for painting.There were only minute signs of rust but the little that was there was repaired with new metal.The chassis is still coated with the heavy tar undercoating of the period. The chrome isbeautiful with only some imperfections seen in the doorhandles.
The engine was also removed and was cleaned out and fully inspected and determined to be excellent. The transmission was fully rebuilt and a new exhaust system installed.The carburetor, water pump and all ancillary items were rebuilt and cosmetically restored. He also installed new shocks, ball joints, new brakes drums and brake shoes. The Coker steel belted wide white wall radials look fantastic and are the right choice for the car. Since the completion of the restoration four years ago George has driven the Cadillaca total of 6,100 miles (the odometer was reset to zero during restoration).
The interior is all new and looks wonderful in all black. The dash pad and glove box liner are new and the entire passenger compartment and trunk are lined with sound deadener and a heat barrier. The electric windows were gone through and all systems work beautifully. The front seat is electric and of course it has power steering and brakes. The radio and speedometer were rebuilt and work well.
To accent the gorgeous black livery George selected a new white convertible top. All the hydraulics are new, including the pump, rams and lines.
This Cadillac comes with a full file of restoration history, many restoration photos and numerous awards from car shows.
