Classic 1971 442 w30 for sale in our Louisville showroom. There were only about 200 Oldsmobile 442 w30s with the 4 speed manual transmission. Of those its estimated that only 40 still exist, and Gateway Classic Cars has one! The Oldsmobile 442 (pronounced four-four-two) was a muscle car produced by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors. It was introduced as an option package for F-85 and Cutlass models sold in the United States beginning with the 1964 model year. The 442 appellation comes from the configuration of the car: a four-barrel carburetor, a four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhaust pipes. It became a model in its own right from 1968 to 1971, then reverted to an option through the mid-1970s.
Here is what the original sales brochure had to say about the w30. 4-4-2 W-30: The original Olds cold-air machine. Now featuring the big 455 cubic inch V-8 with 370-air-inducted horsepower. Nobody offers more in cubes! Or looks! W-30 Package includes: Special 455 cube cold-air V-8 with select fit pats. Lightweight fiberglass hood with functional scoops, big hood stripes, chromed hood tie downs, and low restriction air cleaner (W-25). Performance calibrated 4-bbl carb. High-overlap cam. Manual disc brakes, front, drums, rear. Power-saving clutch fan. Lightweight aluminum intake manifold. Reduced body sound deadener. Two sports-styled mirrors (D35).
