All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance.
Here is a 2003 Z06 Corvette. You may know about the high performance Z06 package, with its the hardtop body style, LS6 engine rated at 405hp, 6-speed manual transmission, performance FE4 suspension, and head-up display. But with nearly $20k in upgrades, there's a lot more to this car.
Let's start with the exterior. The body and paint are near flawless, without any dents or dings. But do you notice the seam at the back of the roof? Well this Z06 actually has a targa top from Caravaggio Corvette, professionally installed at a cost of nearly $7,000. This retains the open air motoring of the coupe with the look of the Z06. It's great! The targa panel does fit in the trunk when removed. You will have one of the most unique hardtops out there. Note the C5 Corvette was designed as a convertible first, and the hardtop is just glued in place on the Z06, so there is no real sacrifice in strength.
Now to the engine. A stock LS6 it is not! It produces well over 500hp and features a Texas Speed V.2 Torquer camshaft, along with ported and polished heads with a full valve job using Patriot Performance Gold dual springs and titanium retainers. There is a 25% underdrive pulley as well, and the oil pump was shimmed and ported. The intake is a Vararam unit, while the exhaust flows through Kooks 1-3/4" headers in to a Borla exhaust. The car sounds nasty enough at idle, but is really outrageous at power. The rest of the drivetrain consists of a Spec 2+ clutch feeding the 6-speed transmission, which was thoroughly built up and is now rated for 650hp. It is linked to a Hurst shifter that is so much more precise than the factory unit.
The engine and transmission are very reliable and have less than 10,000 miles on them, with 75,000 on the car. The rear has been mini tubbed to accommodate the huge 335 series tires in back. The brakes and suspension have also been upgraded, with Baer EradiSpeed rotors all around. The car has been lowered 1" as well. And of course you can't miss the (very expensive) black Fiske 18" wheels (10" front, 12" rear), with excellent Michelin Pilot Sport tires all around.
The interior has my favorite C5 seats, those being the black-and-red Z06 edition leather buckets. Everything else inside is standard C5, with the Bose CD stereo and dual automatic climate control. The HUD works great as well, and is a real plus in a car like this. Other nice touches include a power antenna and tinted lenses. The Autocheck report is spotless as well.
A Z06 Corvette is a very capable, desirable car to begin with. Throw in the targa conversion, drivetrain upgrades, mini tubs, wheels, tires, brakes, etc. and you've got a REALLY capable, desirable car, with a combination of looks and performance that you don't usually see in this price range - if anywhere.
