Offered for sale by the California Automobile Museum
This Beautiful 1973 Mustang Convertible is a real Hot Rod Sleeper. It has been completely redone in a BOSS 351 Theme. It appears stock on the outside but under the hood is definitely not stock with the claimed 475 HP 351 cu. in. Cleveland V8.
Exterior
The exterior of this gorgeous Mustang is in excellent condition and has been garaged since it was redone. It had its factory hood replaced with a Ram Air hood to give it a more distinct appearance. There are a few small blemishes on the paint that I can find. One appears to be a clear coat imperfection on the front bumper (pictured), There is a light scratch just forward of the trunk lid (pictured) that quite possibly can be buffed out, and the last spot is a small chip in the paint on the left edge of the trunk lid itself (pictured). The front and rear spoiler are both painted black, the rear spoiler looks to have some possible shrinkage in the paint (pictured). The Magnum 500 wheels are scuff free and have a nice shine to them, but could use a thorough cleaning to really make them stand out. The convertible top is in great shape, it fits well and is nice and tight. It has been mostly stored with the top in the down position so if there is any fading I cant tell. The rear window is clean and clear. All of the glass is intact and clear. The hood needs some slight adjustment to align it perfectly.
Interior
The interior of this Mustang is very nice and is done in the factory Avocado vinyl and Light Avocado comfortweave pattern. The seats are comfortable and are not worn. The carpeting is in great shape as well. The dashboard is complete with all the factory gauges. There have also been some added AutoMeter gauges installed and those include a 3 3/4in Sport Comp tachometer with programmable shift light mounted on the steering column and 2 5/8in Sport Comp water, oil pressure and voltmeter gauges mounted on the transmission tunnel. The dashboard is in great condition and does not have any cracks. There is a Kenwood CD player in the dash with a 6 disc changer in the trunk. Kenwood speakers are installed in the door panels. There is a rip in the trim molding just behind the drivers seat where you would enter into the back seat (pictured).
Mechanical
This Mustang drives great and is mechanically in great shape. It drives straight down the road with out any odd noises or vibrations to speak of. The transmission shifts as it is supposed to. It has a high stall torque converter and many added engine hop ups that include a blue printed engine, Super Comp headers and roller rockers under the Ford Racing valve covers. Fuel delivery is done via what looks to be a 750 Mighty Demon 4 barrel Demon Carburetor (based on internet comparisons), a Edelbrock 351 Torker intake manifold and a Edelbrock air cleaner. Ignition is delivered by MSD with a Multiple Spark Discharge ignition control box, a Blaster 2 coil and a MSD Distributor. Cooling is done with a large Be Cool aluminum radiator and Flex-A-Lite electric fans. This power plant is claimed to have 475 HP. The transmission is a C-6 that is cooled with a Trans cooler with its own electric fan. the 15 x 8 Magnum 500 wheels are wrapped in Dunlop G/T Qualifiers size P235/60R15. It also has Competition Engineering Traction bars attached to the rear leaf springs to minimize wheel hop and improve traction. power is put to the wheels through a 3.50 posi traction rear end. Power brakes including disc in the front stop this Mustang.
Overview
This 1973 Mustang Convertible is in great shape and will get tons of looks. It has been mostly professionally done. This Mustang has been a family owned vehicle since it was bought new in 1973 with it being passed down. Little is known other than what is in this ad because it is an estate sale vehicle. You would be hard pressed to find a better, more well taken care of Mustang Convertible than this one. Although not completely stock only the rumble of the exhaust and looking under the hood would give that away.
