If nothing succeeds like excess, then this 1941 Willys coupe should be unbeatable. One of the most popular rods of all time has been expertly rendered in fiberglass, stuffed full of big block Chevy, and then given a sharp black paint job and a dazzling interior. If over-the-top is your thing, then your new car has just arrived. For Willys bodies, its hard to beat those coming out of the Antiques & Collectibles shop in Buffalo, New York. Theyve been at it longer than just about anyone, and the look is exactly what youd want from your overpowered Pro-Street-inspired coupe. Fat fenders, pointed hood, and simple grille give it a traditional 40s look, but then you notice the giant hood scoop, the severely raked stance, and those large-by-huge rear meats and understand that this just isnt a quaint old car. Finishing it in sinister Mercedes-Benz Black surely helps, and between the high-quality fiberglass work and the expert finishing, it looks ready for primetime. Just check the reflections in its surface! Everything fits well, too-this is no rickety homemade rod, but a pro-built machine. Classic details like the pinstriping and taillights give it a suitably hot-rod look and its full of tricks like the retractable license plate holder and neatly integrated side mirrors. This Willys shows off its wild side with the interior, which features black and red leather, buckets from a Mitsubishi, a center console from a Chevy Blazer, and cool arm rests that are actual pistons cut in half. A tilt column makes it easy to get comfortable, and the view includes an array of Dolphin gauges and a race tach. Entertainment is by JVC with Infiniti speakers, and theres a handy remote control to manage it. The suicide-style doors are a unique feature custom built for this rod, and theres a lot more pinstriping inside to give it just the right look. The full-sized trunk is full of custom fuel cell, big tubs for the oversized tires, and a subwoofer, but theres still enough room for a few weekend bags, because this car is definitely able to cruise. The engine is a rippling 468 cubic inch Chevy stuffed with all the goodies: Keith Black pistons, Competition camshaft, Crane roller rockers, and a pair of Demon carburetors on an Edelbrock tunnel ram to feed it. The engine bay is all polished aluminum, so it shows quite well when you can get it to sit still. Underneath, its close to a full-race piece, with a 4-inch boxed frame, a race-prepped TH350 3-speed automatic, and a narrowed Ford 9-inch with Mosier 4.11 gears on a Track-Lock. A 4-link suspension ensures those massive tires are doing their job, and 4-wheel disc brakes bring it to a safe stop at the big end of the track. Weld wheels wear 26x7.5x15 skinnies up front and gargantuan 31x18.5x15 Mickey Thompson meats out back. Winner of many awards and featured in several magazines, this Willys takes no prisoners.
