25,816 original miles. 400 cubic inch V8, factory air conditioning. Immaculate interior, solid body and chassis, runs well.
Fresh from long-term, heated, protected storage, this 1972 Chrysler Newport Custom shows just 25,816 original miles. Completely untouched and unmodified, it has been recently tuned and serviced. Original FE5 Rally Red paint in good condition with a few areas of surface rust, most notably around the fender skirts where it shows very minor bubbles due to the skirts’ tendency to trap moisture. Otherwise solid and rust-free, including immaculate trunk floor.
Interior is excellent with unmarked seats, good carpets and door panels, and fully functional gauges. AM radio and factory A/C (needs refrigerant, but system works and compressor turns without issues). Dual rear speakers for the AM/FM radio. Spotless trunk carries what appears to be the original spare tire.
Engine is a 400 cubic inch V8, which was standard equipment on the Custom, backed by a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission. Recent work includes new fuel pump, rebuilt carburetor, plugs, cap, rotor and other tune-up items. Fresh fluids throughout. Starts, runs, and drives quite well, although the old tires should probably be replaced for long-distance driving.
Nice, bargain-priced future collectable in remarkable state of preservation.
