Description

The first Malibu was a top-line subseries of the mid-sized Chevrolet Chevelle from 1964 to 1972. Malibu's were generally available in a full-range of body styles including a four-door sedan, two-door Sport Coupe hardtop, convertible and two-seat station wagon. Interiors were more lavish than lesser Chevelle 300 and 300 Deluxe models thanks to patterned cloth and vinyl upholstery (all-vinyl in convertibles and station wagons), deep-twist carpeting, deluxe steering wheel and other items. The Malibu SS was available only as a two-door Sport Coupe hardtop or convertible and added bucket seats, center console (with optional four-speed manual or Powerglide transmissions), engine gauges and special wheel covers, and offered with any six-cylinder or V8 engine offered in other Chevelles - with the top option being a 300 horsepower 327 in 1964. This '64 Malibu comes finished in a bright blue metallic which looks great and boasts a 396 Cu In big block under the hood. With its new Cragar Eliminator wheels and SS emblems, this car has a great look and stance. The paint on the car is in good overall condition with no major imperfections to speak of. The front and rear chrome bumpers look great and were rechromed during the restoration. Inside, the bucket seats have been recovered with newer black vinyl and look great. The carpet is new as well as the black dash pad. There have been a set of white face Sunpro gauges installed under the dash that show water temperature, volts and oil pressure. Under the hood, you will find a big block 396 Cu In V8 which runs great. Connected to an automatic transmission, the car is a blast to drive. Nicely finished with chrome valve covers, chrome alternator, chromed pulley system and an aluminum radiator the engine compartment is extremely clean. The car does have power brakes. The car rides on Cragar Series 500P Eliminator 17" wheels that are all wrapped with new Bridgestone radials. The trunk is very solid and original. Current mileage shows 26,789 and the VIN number is 45537K157654.
