Its shiny, wet-look panels are 100% straight with no history of accidents or damage of any kind. And a close look down its sculpted fuselage reveals world class fit and finish that, by far, creates one of the nicest factory Fords weve ever seen. As Ras Al-Ghul says in the current Batman film trilogy, I see you took my advice about theatricality a bit... literally! This killer Mustang, with its giant, powder-coated wheels, panther-like stance and completely blacked out exterior is about as evil looking as a car can get. Up front, a traditional Mustang grille hangs an offset cobra emblem between two intricately detailed HID headlights, a sculpted front valence with traditional halogen fog lamps and a sleek carbon fiber air splitter. At the top of the car a factory aluminum hood holds a carbon-fiber patterned air extractor in front of a carbon fiber patterned cowl, chip-free factory glass and a shortened antenna. At the sides of the car large cobra emblems ride between clear front markers, body-matched mirrors and factory side splitters. And at the back of the car blacked out tail lights, a bold, blacked out SHELBY script and a blacked out, GT500-exclusive faux fuel filler hang between a large, trunk-mounted spoiler, a sculpted rear bumper and an aggressive black splitter thats pierced by SHELBY branded exhaust tips.
Like Batmans gothic attire, this Mustangs awesome appearance is a thin and very deliberate veil of world-class ass kicking ability! The supercharged 5.4 liter V8 is now 100 pounds lighter than its LESS powerful predecessor. And thanks to a mild tweak from the speed hungry folks at Shelby, the all-aluminum mill sends an astonishing 558 horsepower and 563 lb./ft. of torque to the cars 20 inch wheels. Fords new wet-sump block utilizes freshly developed technology that trades traditional iron cylinder liners for a sprayed on, molten steel plasma coat to create a reliable powerplant thats actually 8.5 pounds lighter than the one used in their own GT super car. That revolutionary engines thrust is provided by a familiar Eaton supercharger thats been augmented with a Shelby cold air intake, a smaller Shelby 2.60 pulley and a larger two-row intercooler. A carbon fiber-shrouded Shelby radiator combines with a Shelby heat exchanger and a blue Shelby billet, anodized fuel rail kit to complement white hot combustion with ice cold coolant. And since Shelby engineers knew most of this Mustangs admirers would want to check it out both on the track and in the pits, they dressed its engine compartment up with a number of cool aesthetics including Shelby coolant tanks, a Shelby shock tower plaque, a Shelby billet battery tie down, and a full set of Shelby billet fluid caps and dip sticks. In short, youre just not going to break this muscle car. Twist the key and the mean mod motor rumbles to life, sending a symphony of bass notes down sweet Shelby headers to big Borla exhaust pipes. Goose the throttle and a Shelby GT500 idler kit combines with the efficient M122 supercharger to zing the engine toward redline. Click the transmission into gear and youve got 680 horsepower, an engine that eliminates performance-diluting heat soak, a chassis that is less nose-heavy than its older brothers, and a car that is more capable than 95% of todays best street machines, all at your fingertips.
As most performance car fans already know, this Mustangs SVT-tuned suspension is nothing short of excellent; but with a few of Shelbys aftermarket bolt-ons, it sticks to the corners like the high speed luge winner at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The firms suspension upgrades began with a Shelby Performance Handling Package that straightens the curves, progressed to Shelby Camber and Caster plates that fine tune the ride, and ended with a billet watts link set up that keeps the power to the ground. Behind the smooth engine, a slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission sends power to tall 3.71 gears and a factory limited slip differential via a Shelby one piece aluminum driveshaft. At the corners of the car, stops are provided by a Shelby Wilwood front and aftermarket rear disc brake system that makes good use of black, Shelby branded calipers, Shelby brake ducts, a full set of braided steel lines, and a combination of drilled and slotted rotors. Turns come courtesy of Fords super-efficient EPAS electronic steering system. Exhaust flows through fresh Borla pipes to bright, Shelby-branded stainless tips. And naturally, Fords standard ABS and Advance Trac stability and traction control systems are all present and accounted for. All this first class speed and agility rides on a set of massive 20 inch Shelby Super Snake wheels which spin sticky 255/35 front and 275/35 rear Pirelli P Zero radials around a gray powder coat finish. And, given its similarity to the Super Snake package, this Mustang drives and handles just as well as any of Ol Shels top-of-the-line kits!
Inside this Ford, highly bolstered Recaro sport seats, which feature Shelbys traditional Cobra logos, fit like a glove; and a leather wrapped tilt steering wheel with convenient thumb buttons sports a snake on its hub. The instrument panel is a familiar Mustang layout which features a programmable SVT shift light inside a large, graphite-faced tachometer and great looking metal trim. Below that great looking trim, a familiar Shaker stereo combines with Sirius Satellite radio, touch screen navigation and Fords revolutionary SYNC system to become a one-stop shop for all your electronic needs.
