Received enthusiastically at its introduction in April 194, it was clear that the Clipper was the future of Packard. The company concentrated on the Clipper in the postwar years, producing both six- and eight-cylinder versions. This 1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper Eight Sedan is an example of only two models available in this series, Packards top of the line for 1947. Powered by Packards 165hp 356 cubic inch inline eight-cylinder engine, it has been thoroughly restored to show-quality condition in rich metallic burgundy with sumptuous matching burgundy broadcloth upholstery and interior trim and burgundy carpets. It is equipped with a 3-speed manual transmission with conventional clutch operation, radio, heater, rear wheel skirts and whitewall tires riding on wheels generously appointed with both hubcaps and trim rings. For safety in modern touring it has been equipped with seat belts. The interior is particularly inviting and luxurious. The dashboard is decorated in horizontal chrome bands extending from door to door that repeat the grille and nose motif of horizontal bars in the interior. The 1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper Eights are CCCA Full Classics and this handsomely restored and presented Sedan would be ideal for tours and CARavans.
