Description

Now that the Boss 302 is a legitimate six-figure collectable car, where do you go to satisfy your Trans-Am jones? How about this nicely done Boss tribute? Its definitely got the look. Finished in Bright Yellow with those beautifully executed Larry Shinoda graphics, the Boss 302 is arguably the best looking Mustang of the era. The combination of the long, wide fastback body, the massive hood scoop, and those perfectly proportioned satin black graphics leaves no middle ground-nobody who looks at this car doesnt know what it is and why it was built. Other details are correct as well, including a chin spoiler, decklid wing, and even the rear window slats, which were a popular option that was also functional, helping to keep the interior cool. Bright stainless surrounds the grille, the bumpers have fresh chrome, and dual sport mirrors give it a race-ready look that was wildly popular in 1970. The white bucket seats would have been an unusual choice in a Boss, but if you live in a hot climate, youll probably appreciate the white even more. Highlighted by wood accents throughout, the interior is comfortable and nicely finished with little wear and use since the car was completed. There are also new black carpets, a restored center console, and a dashboard full of factory gauges that are functional. A Hurst T-handle shifter is almost irresistible when you climb inside, and it slices through the gears of the 4-speed Toploader effortlessly. The only major deviation from stock is a newer AM/FM/cassette stereo with speakers in the rear quarters, all provided by Vintage Sound. I feel that I must tip my hat to the fellow who restored this car, because he didnt try to disguise the engine. Yes, it is a 302 cubic inch V8, but it isnt the screaming 7000 RPM monster that the original Boss used, but rather a torquey street machine that moves the car easily and is a genuine pleasure to drive. The engine bay is extremely sanitary as well, wearing fresh Ford Blue paint on the block, heads, and air cleaner, as well as a set of correct decals and that cool Shaker hood scoop. Finned valve covers look right and advertise the Boss 302 image, and a modern power steering pump ensures reliability. Underneath, its solid and clean, with nice floors finished as original in red oxide primer with just the right amount of overspray. A pair of Flowmasters supply the Trans-Am racetrack soundtrack, and even the 9-inch rear has been properly detailed. Handsome Magnum 500 wheels were a Boss option, but they always look right, especially wearing fat 225/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Forget big price tags, this is a Boss you can drive without spending your kids inheritance. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
