A Great Original Car
• Paint and Chrome
The first thing that jumps out about this Trans Am is the quality of its Starlight Black paint. To say that it is “showroom fresh” is an understatement. Obviously this car has been pampered in a garage its entire life. Accented with the full “hood bird” decal, this is a car that looks fast just sitting still!
The trim is in very good condition to excellent condition. All of the windows are in good condition and operate correctly. The T-tops are both in excellent condition, fit properly and remove easily.
The body and frame of the car are free of any apparent rust issues (see pictures). The car had a complete Hercules rust preventative, finish protective and “Gravel Guard” stone protection film applied as well.
• Interior
The Carmine Red Velour interior upholstery is in excellent condition, and makes an excellent contrast with the black exterior. The front seats look virtually new, as does the red carpeting. Similarly, the door panels are in excellent condition.
The dash pad is in excellent condition and free of cracks. All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature, amp, fuel and oil pressure) work properly as do the warning lights. The turbo monitoring system fitted by the factory into the hood works properly to alert the driver to the turbo boost performance. Similarly, the speedometer and clock work, as does almost all of the safety equipment (lights, horn, seat belts, etc.). The tachometer and wipers will need some attention.
The air conditioning blows cold, however the dash controls must be left in “max” to direct the air flow towards the passengers.
• Engine
This Trans Am has the 4.9 liter turbo-charged V-8 that testing data shows actually makes the car faster than the pre-‘80 6.6 L engine. The engine starts right up and runs well, providing all of the thrill that the turbo-charged engines from Pontiac are famous for.
• Transmission
The automatic transmission has a shift-kit making for quicker shifts between gears. The set up also allows for driver-controlled up-shifts and down-shifts with the B&M shifter.
• Rear End/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
The rear end is a limited slip differential that helps handle the engine’s torque. This car has power front disc brakes and Turbo Cast Aluminum wheels mounted with Uniroyal P225/70R15 Steel Belted Radials. The trunk holds an original equipment inflatable space-saver spare.
• Comfort Features
The AM/FM 8-track radio has a power antenna, and both the radio and antenna work, although we don’t have any 8-track tapes with which to test the player!
In addition to the power front disc brakes, this Trans Am has power steering and air conditioning.

This 22,000-mile Trans Am is all that one could want in a muscle car: turbo charged, shift kit, limited slip.
