Description

1970 Mach 1: A Rotisserie Restoration Call us--540-370-4474--for more information. This 1970 Mustang Mach 1 is as nice as we have seen: • Factory build sheet; • A balanced and blueprinted 351 Cleveland V-8 engine; • Top-loader 4-speed; • Air induction; • limited slip rear; • Air conditioning; • Power steering/brakes and More! Plus, it has traveled only1765 miles since the engine was re-built. It just doesn’t get any better than this. They don’t get any Nicer! • Paint and Chrome The first thing that jumps out about this Mach 1 is the quality of its Grabber Blue respray. To say that it is “showroom fresh” is an understatement because the paint work is far superior to its original Wimbledon White finish. Obviously this car has been pampered in a garage since its restoration. Accented with the full 351 stripe decal on its shaker hood with air induction, this is a car that looks fast just sitting still! The trim is in very good condition to excellent condition. All of the windows are in good condition and both driver’s and passenger windows operate correctly. The rear window slats help distinguish this Mustang as one of the true muscle cars of the era. Likewise, the car has both its front and rear spoilers to complete the look. As would be expected with a rotisserie restoration, the body and underside of the car are free of any apparent rust issues (see pictures). • Interior The Black vinyl interior upholstery is in excellent condition, and makes an excellent contrast with the Grabber Blue exterior. The front seats look virtually new, as does the black carpeting. Similarly, the door panels are in like-new condition. The dash pad is in excellent condition and free of cracks. All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature, amp, fuel and oil pressure) work properly as do the warning lights. Similarly, the speedometer, tach and clock work, as does all of the safety equipment (lights, horn, seat belts, etc.). The air conditioning blows cold, with the original factory air unit having been replaced with the more efficient Vintage Air system. The factory controls and vents regulate this updated air conditioner so that even on the hottest days, the cockpit is comfortable. • Engine The car’s 351 Cleveland was rebuilt by a NASCAR race team in Owensboro, KY into a 392 cid stroker, then balanced and blueprinted. The engine starts right up and runs well, providing all the thrill that the Mach 1 Clevelands are famous for. Adding to the engine’s performance is the air induction system sending fresh air directly into the carburetor, and expelling the exhaust through Hooker Headers and a Flowmaster dual exhaust setup. • Transmission The top-loader 4-speed manual transmission is slick as a hounds tooth, allowing up and down shifts without any complaints. The clutch is smooth and doesn’t require a knee transplant to operate comfortably. • Rear End/Brakes/Wheels/Tires The rear end has a 3.50 Traction-Lock rear axle that helps handle the engine’s torque. This car has power front disc brakes and Magnum 500 wheels mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires--P235/60R15s on the front and P245/60R15s on the rear, all four of which look almost new. • Comfort Features The AM/FM Stereo radio works and can be heard just fine over the air conditioning that is cooling the car. Power steering and power brakes help turn this muscle car into a vehicle that any enthusiast will enjoy. An Excellent Example of one of Ford’s Most Popular and Collectible Muscle Cars The Mach 1 is on almost everyone’s list of their favorite collector cars, known for its great styling and impressive performance, so finding a nice one can be a challenge. Our 1970 is a real find with its rotisserie restoration, great paint, rebuilt engine, top-loader 4-speed and A/C. These cars are highly in demand and therefore represent not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well. After all, you can’t take your CDs or stocks/bonds for a weekend drive or to a car show: they may be blue chips but they will never take the blue ribbons!
