The 1965 Chevy Impala was longer, wider, and lower, and it paid off with bigger sales and one of the most handsome full-sized performance cars of the era. This stunning bright red SS tribute hardtop brings all the goodies to the party, including a big block V8, a sizzling paint job, and perfectly-sized wheels that give it a 21st century twist on a classic look. The paint on this big Imp almost glows, and its well-complimented by solid bodywork, which reflects light like a mirror and has been buffed to a dazzling shine. Getting a car this big to look this good is no easy task, so the guys who did the work were clearly professionals with a ton of talent, and judging from the undercarriage, this was never a rusty car anyway. In true SS fashion, twin black stripes were added along the hood and deck lid, and buried under the clear for a seamless look. From the rear, Impalas are easy to recognize with their trademark triple taillights, and all the chrome has been beautifully refinished. Compare this sleek hardtop with one of the earlier Impalas in our inventory, and youll really see how far the design evolved in 65. The red and black theme continues inside, albeit inverted, with restored black buckets and a bright red dash and steering wheel. The low-back buckets emphasize the Impalas sport/luxury mission, and the big back seat is spacious enough for at least three passengers. Center consoles are always highly desirable options, and this one also features a built-in clock and a slick chrome shifter handle. The original dash remains largely as it was when it was new, although the controls for the modern A/C system and the modest vents have been neatly integrated into the original design. The original radio remains in the dash, but theres an AM/FM/CD head unit in the dash tied to a state-of-the-art system with speakers throughout the passenger compartment and a custom subwoofer enclosure with amplifiers in the oversized and beautifully finished trunk. In 1965, the 409 was phased out and the all-new 396 was ushered in, bringing new levels of power and refinement to the Impalas already impressive resume. But this is no stock 396, as you can tell at first glance. Under the billet air cleaner there are a pair of four-barrel Edelbrocks atop a matching intake, all fed by a custom fuel system with AN fittings and hoses. Chevy Orange paint looks vibrant in the satin black engine bay, and liberal use of polished aluminum and stainless gives it a show car look. Ignition is by MSD, and the A/C system uses R134a refrigerant for easy maintenance. The chassis is exceptionally clean, and features tricks like chrome-plated brake drums, which is a good thing, since theyre highly visible behind those huge 18-inch front and 20-inch rear Cragar wheels. Beautifully built and insanely fast, this slick Impala SS delivers on the promise of full-sized performance. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
