Offered for the first time since purchased new, this 1972 Ferrari 246GTS 'Dino' Spider hails from the Golden State and spent all but the last few years of its life in the warmth of Southern California. Its enthusiastic first and only owner campaigned the car in speed trials and other racing events from brand-new, going so far as to custom-engineer and manufacture a mechanical fuel injection system to enhance the car's already impressive performance. He was also a friend of California car racing enthusiast Paul Newman, who drove the car on numerous occasions prior to its retirement in 1977. Following the car's withdrawal from competitive activities, it was used sparingly as an occasional driver in an eclectic collection that also included one of the final production Ferrari 365GTB Daytona Berlinettas. It has always been lovingly cared for throughout its 40 years, but never more so than the recent restoration back to its factory-original Giallo Fly (Fly Yellow) over Black leather. At this time, the racing injection system was removed and installed on a display stand, the original factory-equipped Weber carburetors taking their place in the engine compartment. Said restoration was completed in 2008, following which the car has gone on to win awards on every single outing on the Concours d'Elegance circuit. Documentation, photographs and the custom fuel injection system convey with the car. This represents a very rare opportunity to own perhaps one of, if not the last Ferrari Dino to come from single private ownership anywhere in the world.
