Here at Streetside we come across a lot of nice 40 Fords but it is rare that we feature one quite like this. Most of the 40s we showcase are built up with a 350 under the hood and lots of power options or very original. This car does not fit into either of those categories - we will call it a period correct hotrod. With a beautifully finished all steel body wearing gorgeous black paint and a throaty, hopped up flathead under the hood, this is one slick ride. The nicely detailed flathead, built by Almond Hopkins, breathes through twin vintage Stromberg downdraft carbs and packs some extra punch thanks to the high performance Edelbrock heads. Open exhaust with chrome tips let you hear that there is something special under the hood. Open the door and take a seat in a beautifully restored interior. The owner chose a vintage diamond cut pattern for the seating surfaces and door panels. The dash retains its beautiful original gauges and sparkling chrome accents. A nice correct steering wheel complements the slick column shifter. Autometer gauges, neatly tucked away under the dash, supplement the factory gauges and allow for accurate readings. Also under the dash you will find the optional factory heater installed. This black beautys trunk and underside are both detailed very nicely. Chrome and stainless steel trim all look great and the red wheels with glistening dog dish hubcaps are the perfect choice to complete the package. For those of us that can remember bits & pieces of the early 40s there was always a Ford that seemed to have a little something - something that others didnt have. Well - this is one of those.
