1978 was a big year for Chevrolets Corvette. They were celebrating the 25th year of this true American sports car and they were also chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500 race in May of that year. With the addition of the new bubble top rear window, owners were now allowed to carry luggage inside and take to the road. It also allowed for better driver visibility and a larger gasoline tank. This car still carries the factory original Classic White, code #10 paint. A recent buff still makes this paint shine, and the T-tops and dual sport mirrors are also matched to the body color. The gaps you see were delivered by the factory, and while most of the mechanicals have been restored, the body simply hasnt needed it yet. If youre in the market for one of these, you know how rare that is to find. Inside we see well-preserved red leather wrapped seats, code #722, deep cut-pile carpeting, floor mats, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power steering, power brakes, power windows and door locks and a privacy shade in the cargo area. A modern AM/FM radio with a cassette tape deck with rear-mounted speakers is also included. In keeping with the exterior upgrades a newly designed instrument panel and face-mounted gauges complete the interior and everything works. Most of the interior is very fresh, and its easy to look around and see where some recent money has been spent. The dash, gauges, console and controls are all in great shape, and beg for you to put them to use. To power this Classic White Corvette is a numbers matching 350cid L48, a close ratio M21 4-speed transmission bolted to a 3.70 gear set. This is truly a rare option, with only 3,385 Corvettes out of a total production 46,776 delivered with the M21 set up. Power is put to the street by beautiful cast aluminum wheels, wrapped with 235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial TAs. In addition to several cosmetic upgrades in the cockpit, the owner has just completed a long list of maintenance items to keep this baby safe, sound and on the road. He wanted this to be a truly great driver, and to that end, no small sum was spent ensuring that this car is in top-notch mechanical condition, and from the way it drives youll quickly see how evident that is. To say this Vette drives nicely is truly an understatement. The list is too long to mention here, but a Streetside sales associate will be happy to go over the list with you. Additional goodies included in this sale are the many of the original parts, original owners manual and the restoration receipts. This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
