Gorgeous original car fitted with some modern pro-touring upgrades! Factory code correct 389 Tri-power car, manual transmission, a/c, and so much more! Take a long hard look at this one! The one that is arguably credited for starting the Muscle Car craze, the 1964 Pontiac Lemans GTO! Although many power enthusiasts claim the real muscle car era started years prior, it was the lighter midsize chassis, sporty suspension, raw power, and out of the box performance that was the fresh appeal to buyers. The price wasnt all that bad either, so many young and seasoned buyers found the new GTO easy to buy and already prepared to pound the pavement, so it became an instant success for Pontiac! This brilliantly prepared 1964 Pontiac GTO hardtop is finished in factory correct rare Gulfstream Aqua Metallic over a gorgeous Black Bucket seat interior! The paint application is simply spectacular and looks amazing under the sun! Although, this truly show quality GTO does have the cosmetic appeal that will win plenty of awards, its restorer wanted it to be the best it could be under the hood, on the streets, and even out on the race track! At a glance, one would suspect this car is largely original, but they would be absolutely wrong! The factory original 389ci V8 Tri-power engine (code 76XW) under the hood has been stroked to an unbelievable 427cubic inches and now produces a perfectly tuned 500 horsepower! This is accomplished by fully balanced and blueprinted performance engine internals, Indian Adventures Chief ManyHorses ceramic-coated headers individually fitted and molded to a full 3 exhaust with electronic cutouts that make the most wonderful exhaust note when opened up, crossover pipe, as well as custom fabricated 3 chrome GTO quad exhaust tips! Other engine improvements include high-performance radiator with HD 7-blade cooling fan, SFI-approved steel flywheel, Lakewood scatter shield, CenterForce clutch, and so much more! To improve the remaining drivetrain to handle todays modern highway speeds comfortably, the transmission was upgraded to a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual along with a Moser 12-bolt rear end fitted with potent 3.73 Safe-T-Track gearing & 31-spline axles! This car possesses the full Global West suspension package that includes tubular upper & lower control arms, front and rear sway bars, new springs, polyurethane bushings, QA1 adjustable shocks, and more! Further options include modern air conditioning (R134a), a fully chromed & polished Wilwood 4-wheel power disc brake system, factory Rally gauges with in-dash tachometer, original date-coded chrome 14 Hurst wheels, original wood steering wheel, AGR quick-ratio power steering box, Rock Valley stainless steel gas tank, competition lap belts, rear differential cover, and more! All of the brake lines, fuel lines, body bolts, washers, & fittings are all stainless steel for a lifetime of easy rust free care! Some closer examination will expose original style T3 headlamps, Delco battery cover with pinch style battery connections, and original date stamping & castings on the body panels and engine components! It really is a car ready to take on whatever you may require from it. The pro-touring market has much to offer, but finding an example like this that bears this much originality to the eye, and also provides modern day creature comforts & handling attributes to its owner is like the best of both worlds! It has been owned and maintained by the same owner for the last 12 years! No disappointments here! Please feel free to call with additional questions or to schedule an appointment to view in person.
