Description

Most of us are familiar with the Nash Metropolitan in its later years with multi-color paint jobs, but few remember the early Metros with monochrome paint. Conceived by William Flajole in the early Fifties fascination with small, economical automobiles to serve Americans growing desire for second cars, the original NXI Metropolitan employed Nashs unit body design and was assembled in Britain at Austins famed Longbridge plant with bodies by Fisher and Ludlow. This is a superb example of the early 1200cc Metropolitan convertible with fixed rear deck and fabric covered exposed rear-mounted spare. The quality of its restoration and minute attention to detail is bewitching. Restored in Marina Blue with tan leather and beige Bedford Cloth upholstery and black carpets, it has a black cloth top and matching spare tire cover. Its restoration is simply amazing with exquisite paint on flat, evenly matched body panels, tight upholstery and great chrome. Metropolitan experts have looked at it and say it is as good as if not better than any Metropolitan in the world. Choice barely begins to describe it, a Nash Metropolitan with a restoration that would not be out of place on a Duesenberg or 12-cylinder Packard. Every detail has been addressed carefully and with great attention to accuracy and the caliber of fit and finish is beyond perfect. Nut and bolt does not do this Metropolitans restoration justice. This is an amazing tribute to the Metropolitans concept and the dedication and attention to detail of its restorer. Simply said, The Best.
