Description

72800 mile car from California, rust free, has not been hit on any of the corners or bumper pads like most of them that are left. L80 403 4BBL with an M33 automatic, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, tilt wheel, aftermarket AM/FM/cassette, 15X8 factory rallye II wheels with a new set of Firestone 225/70-15s. Equipped with a posi rear end and 256 gears. This car retains its factory numbers matching drivetrain and all components, including the smog pump and its plumbing which are in a box in the trunk. Also has the original un-used inflatable spare, jack and tools.

Interior had been overdone by the sun, so we replaced the carpets, rear package shelf, console top, had the seats re-covered to perfection by Evans Upholstery (620-273-8557), re-dyed the hard panels and replaced the headliner. Found the build sheet under the back seat and its in real good shape. Was built in the Van Nuys plant 7-7-78 and delivered to Shepherd Pontiac in Concord CA. Spent all its life there in southern Cal and was parked in 93. Recently rescued and had the radiator, water pump, belts and hoses and fuel pump replaced. Runs and drives nicely without issues. With paint and minor body work this car would be a good driver and collector car. Not many of these left and very few that dont need tons of sheet metal work. Havent checked the fuel mileage yet but with 256 gears it runs about 2400rpms at 70 mph. Doesnt smoke or use oil.

1978 was an all time sales record for Pontiac, selling over 175000 Firebrids, Trans Ams and Formulas. Surprisingly with that many of them being produced there are very few left, and even less that can be considered solid cars that havent been hit or rusted.
