1955 DESOTO FIREFLITE HEMI CONVERTIBLE
DeSoto suddenly changed in 1955. Even Betty Grable was forced to stop & stare. She and husband –Harry James with Groucho Marx hiding in the back seat, appeared on National TV extoling the virtues of the “Styled for Tomorrow” 55 DeSoto.
DeSoto had power styling to go with its Hemi Power, DeSoto was longer, wider, and sleeker than any previously. The Fireflite Convertibles were dressed up with the enormous “fang-shaped” side panels. It was all new inside with the Power Flite automatic with an intriguing Flite-Control lever mounted on the dash. The dash was dramatically styled with a dual cockpit gull-wing theme.
This Magnificent and Extremely Rare Example is finished in Carnival Red and Surf White, with matching leather interior piped in Red. It underwent a Total Restoration, including Interior, Exterior, Brightwork, and Mechanics. A total of over $100K has been invested.
