Once in a lifetime opportunity. This is a One of a kind replica of the Ecto-1a from the Movie "Ghostbusters 2". Based on a 1959 Miller-Meteor Cadillac Ambulance, this car is the same make, model and coachbuilder as the movie car. Making it the ONLY known replica of the second movie car that is built on the proper base car. The car is currently registered and licensed as a private passenger vehicle. No special license required to own and drive. Its street legal, and safe to drive on public roads. (Please check your local laws for the relevant sections regarding emergency lighting. Covers for the lightbars are included.) Amazing to see in person, photos are just the beginning. So much to see and explore in and around the car. Buttons, lights and gadgets galore. There is really nothing else like this on the roads anywhere. Be prepared to stop traffic and pose for photos wherever you go! You can be the star of every car show you attend. Its very hard to photograph the car to show the lights as the lights and signs are SO bright they tend to overwhelm the camera. So please excuse the graininess.
Highlights are as follows:
Engine: Cadillac 390 (Stock)
Brakes: Upgraded to a 1.5ton Hydrovac unit for increased stopping power. (Commercial Truck Unit)
Rear end/rear axles: Upgraded to a 1961 Cadillac Commercial unit to take advantage of larger brake drums.
Wheels/Tires: Extra load blackwall tires mounted on extra heavy duty commercial rims to properly support the weight of the car. Factory Cadillac hubcaps.
Air Conditioning: Commercial unit designed for a modern Ambulance. R134a. Integrated into the console in the rear compartment. Remote controls mounted within reach of the driver. Adjustable vents in both the front and the rear of the car to provide air to all 4 passengers.
Cooling: Stock radiator, with electric fans.
Wiring: All added wiring was properly fused or put on an automotive breaker. All circuits are oversized to provide proper current flow.
Emergency Lighting: Custom Built lightbars by Code 3 and Whelen to Match the Movie car. All lightbars were brand new and custom built for THIS car. Rotating Beacon was restored by a noted siren restorer for this car. Small green Spots on the front and rear were custom built for this car. White strobes are mounted behind the grille to preserve the integrity of the chrome grille bar in the center of the grille. Arrowstick on the rear of the car is working and functional. Emergency lighting is controlled by a single "master" switch for main power, and individual lighting control switches for each light. All emergency lighting on the car works as new.
Electrical: The car is wired with 2 batteries and a heavy duty dual battery switch. The car is also wired to use a 120v power inverter to run the systems off of "house" power. One inverter will be included with the car. The main battery is wired with a "break away" battery plug to allow for plugging into "house" power.
Alternator: Upgraded to a commercial 185A Ambulance unit which provides higher amps at idle than a passenger alternator.
Siren: The car is equipped with a traditional electronic siren, which provides siren tones as well as an Air Horn and PA system. The car also has a custom created, MP3 based "movie" siren that is as correct to the film as we could possibly get, that plays through an external siren speaker. This unit can also be used for playing music externally if desired. Backup copy of the MP3 Sound file will be included on CD.
Audio/Video system: Custom designed Alpine A/V system. Includes slide out monitor in the front, and a second video monitor in the rear. Has a 12 disc CD changer, a dedicated DVD player, and 6 subwoofers in custom enclosures in the rear. All amplifiers are hidden behind custom grilles in the rear of the car, and are monitored with a remote status light so you know instantly that there is power to the amplifiers. There is also a roof mounted weatherproof video camera that can be routed to display on either of the monitors. (Monitors can show different programs at different times.) A TV tuner is also integrated into the system for local TV reception. Component speakers are located in the front kick panels, as well as a second set of component speakers that are housed in a custom enclosure in the center cabinet for rear seat passengers.
Seating: Custom Recaro Racing buckets. All Black in the front of the car, and 2 tone Red/Black in the rear. All seats feature 4 point racing harnesses. Front buckets feature air adjustments.
Custom Consoles: Front center console contains stereo, main lighting power control, DVD player, A/C Controls, A/C vents, Siren control and MP3 siren control, and Lit cupholders. Overhead console contains Emergency lighting toggle switches, police scanner (display only), prop switch boxes, arrow stick control. Overhead console is also lit for ease of use. Rear console contains Video monitor on Swivel stand, and lit cupholders. Center "cabinet" contains interior lighting controls for rear compartment. Green chase light and controller, Mounted clipboards for "invoicing" and paperwork. Rear "cabinet" also hides the A/C Unit, and the speaker boxes for the rear compartment.
LED signs: Computer programmable signs. Bi-Color (Red/Green) as featured in the movie. Weatherized, and designed for exterior vehicle use. Custom designed and built for this car. All computer control equipment for the signs are on board and self contained. No laptop/desktop computer required for operation. Will come pre-programmed with authentic text as seen in the "Ghostbusters 2" movie. Sign system includes spare parts, including a spare computer, power supply, complete sign module, and individual module elements. Please note that these signs are weatherproof and designed to be used on a 12V vehicle. To our knowledge, there is no other replica anywhere with working LED signs. Copies of Programming software for the signs will be included as well as back up versions of the basic "movie text" sign programming. (Software was custom made for the car, and you will need to provide your own computer. Again, this is not required to operate the signs.)
