The 400i Automatic was the first Ferrari to offer an automatic transmission, in this case a 3-speed unit from General Motors (T440). The engine, based on the Daytona's, was a 4.8 L (4823 cc) V12 producing 340 hp. It is fuel Injected-- Mounted in front and driving the rear wheels, the traditional GT car layout allowed Ferrari to fit four seats in the stylish 1981 400i coupe.
The dark gray metallic repaint is as original color. Body is perfectly straight. It has nice factory wheels and xlint Michelin tires--spare is like new
This car is mechanically very sound---- This engine runs perfect--just spent $1700 on engine service--Oil, spark plugs--filters--water pump-- etc--And it is a strong runner with no oil leaks--no smoke--And the mechanic states it runs great and can be verified--It has about 36K miles. As you know all Ferrari 400's were gray market cars but all the epa and dot work has been done--with correct stickers in the door jam. Besides it's over 25 years years old and exempt in most states but California, for smog.
All gauges work and the AC blows cold--All windows and lights work as well--The interior leather has been redone same color black by previous owner. In the trunk is an amplifier and a large bass speaker for improved sound--
Good solid car that really runs strong and comfortable to drive--Super driver, no issues would drive it to New York tomorrow, and looks great. Call Roy (619) 708-3180. By appontment only.
