1 of 3 prototypes built. Only 2,800 miles. Styled by the legendary
Auburn, Cord Duesenberg designer Gordon Buehrig and built in
collaboration with well known collector Richard Kughn of the Car
Rail Museum and Kughn Car Collection of Detroit. At it's height,
the Kughn Collection numbered 280 cars. Only 3 examples of the
Buehrig were produced - although plans were to build 50 units at an
astounding retail price of $130,000 each in 1981. New Corvettes
were used as the base platform. The 3 cars are as follows:
*
The blue car - this was Gordon Buehrigs personal car and the
two-tone blue color with a blue and yellow leather interior was
selected as a nod to his Swiss ancestry. This car resides in the
"Buehrig Room" at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn
Indiana.
*
The cream and orange car - this was Richard Kughn's personal car
and the first one ever sold. We purchased it from the Kughn estate
in 2017 with a mere 1,800 miles on the odometer. The color
combination was selected to match his show winning Duesenberg. We
sold this car to Bob Simpson, owner of Bob's Classic Cars.
*
The maroon car - The car now available. This was Linda Kughn's
personal car. Only 2,500 miles and recently acquired from the Kughn
estate. It's the first time being advertised for sale. Built from a
new Corvette in 1981. The VIN therefore decodes to a 1981 Corvette
and the drivetrain is stock Corvette. Only 2,500 miles since new
and stored in a climate controlled garage. It remains all original
and in near showroom condition today. The build quality is
remarkable! Priced at $50,000 obo. Trades always considered. For
