Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera
RS. Finished in Polar Silver, this 964 RS presents in
collector-grade condition inside and out; the odometer is showing
41,684 kilometers which translates to 25,901 miles (although CarFax
does not have entries prior to import, service records support this
mileage so we believe it to be accurate). Sold new in Japan, this
car made it way to Germany in 2013 and to the US in 2023. The
present enthusiast owner has added about 1,000 km over the last
year. Magnesium 17-inch cup wheels are wearing brand new
Michelins.
The Carrera RS was reintroduced with the 964 chassis for "rest of
world" non-US markets only, and incorporates a seam-welded
bodyshell as well as an aluminum hood, rolled fenders, and thinner
side and rear windows than those used on the standard Carrera. The
RS also features a lowered and stiffened suspension compared to the
standard 964, with adjustable Bilstein coilovers plus adjustable
front and rear sway bars - and no power steering for weight savings
and improved feedback (neither was this example fitted with A/C, a
stereo or power windows). The G50 five-speed manual transmission
offers closer gear ratios, asymmetrical limited slip differential,
and steel synchromesh vs the non-RS 964. The 3.6 liter flat six
makes 256 horsepower thanks to revised engine management, and it
likes to rev due to a lightweight flywheel.
Interior appointments include thinner carpet and lightweight Recaro
bucket seats with three-tone leather inserts. Nearly 300 lbs
lighter than a 964 RS America, and nearly 500 lbs lighter than a
standard US-market 964 Carrera 2, the Carrera RS feels markedly
more sporting to drive than a standard 964. The driving experience
is reminiscent of an early 911, but with a much more capable
chassis (it incorporates all of the classic 911 good things -
light, tossable, willing - but none of the bad ones - superb
handling and braking, more balanced and less tail-happy than a
torsion-bar 911). And with only 1,992 units produced worldwide (and
only a handful of those now stateside), it's rare.
Records indicate the clutch was replaced in 2018; a major service
in 2023 included a valve adjustment, new drive belts, spark plugs,
brake pads and rebuilt brake calipers. And earlier this year under
present ownership the car saw an engine-out reseal. Fully sorted
and ready to enjoy, this 964 RS includes its factory books, two
keys, service records, import documentation and is sold on a clean
and clear Georgia title. For more information about this 1992
