Affectionately known as 'Mrs Beeman', I've personally know this car and it's last owner for close to 30 years!
I'm assisting a family in settling an estate that includes this 1964 Corvair. The deceased owner was a well known Corvair mechanic in southern Maine. Became known as far back as the 1970's when he owned a general repair business / gas station as the 'Corvair guy'. He worked on this car for it's original owner (Mrs Beeman) for years until she was unable to drive any longer and he bought it. Probably sometime in the 1980's. He kept it, drove it and cared for it until his passing last year. Now it's for sale.
A repaint of the original Meadow Green with a nice, off white bucket seat interior. A Powerglide automatic transmission and the optional 110 HP engine. Speaking of options, she also has a factory rear mounted antenna, dual bowtie mirrors, an unusual and rarely seen, oil bath air cleaner, full tinted glass and front seat belts with retractors. Bumper guards and an original accessory GM floor mat too!
Starts right up and runs nice. Shifts, brakes and drives fine. A fresh battery and fuel pump too. Needs to be driven. Been primarily sitting since 2018. Tires are older and should be replaced.
SUPER solid body and undercarriage. Never undercoated and looks to have been rustproofed at some point. VERY CLEAN and rust free. Just some signs of trunk floor repair somewhere along the way but not earth shattering and usable as is.
Overall a great, entry level Corvair you can get in and drive today and enjoy. Tinker as you go. Not a project. I don't sell those. This is a good one with a good story behind it!
Car will be sold with a transferrable Maine state registration from 2017. Maine does not title older vehicles.
