The legendary 1963 Chevy Impala Super Sport (SS) 327ci. These are

Chevrolet's latest weapon in the sales wars was the 1963 Impala SS,
featuring a handsomely redesigned body with the forward-prow
rectangular mesh anodized aluminum grille with quad haedlamps
housed in individual bezels. The 1963's knife-edged creases are
level and parallel from nose to tail. What really makes the SS is
the bright engine-turned (swirl pattern) aluminum trim accent.
There is no mistaken with the tail panel, which features three
round taillamps per side on the Impala and the SS option brought
with its engine-turned aluminum panels in the rear cover. The
emblems on the front fenders denote the engine in this case "V" and
crossed flags for the 327. Impala SS was the top-of-the-line
Chevrolet.
The famous 327ci is a cast-alloy-iron block with a forged
crankshaft and connecting rods, and 4.00 x 3.25-inch bore and
stroke. The 250hp at 4,400 RPM and 350-lb.ft. of torque at 2,800
RPM a 10.5:1 compression ratio. This is a number matching true
Impala SS. Mated to an automatic Powerglide with the first-gear
ratio 1.76:1. Connected to the 8.375-inch Hotchkiss-type rearend
with 3.36 gear.
Riding on a 119-inch wheelbase, welded-steel, box-section X-frame,
the front suspension consist of unequal-lenth upper and lower
control arms, heavy-duty coil springs, shocks and a .6875-inch
anti-roll bar. The solid rear axle located by a pair of lower
control arms, a single upper arm and a .750-inch lateral control
bar, panhard bar, that runs from the axle housing to the frame.
Heavy-duty coil springs and shocks. Braking is accomplished with 11
x 2.75-inch front and 11 x 2.00-inch rear drums with power
assist.
This is an optional power steering. The hooded instrument panel has
engine-turned inserts to each side and on the lower level. This was
an SS option. The upholstery is done in saddle with wide aluminum
trim wrapped up the bucket seats sides and over the tops. The SS is
done in a stunning metallic Marine Aqua Poly (code 919). All the
chrome and bright work have been restored. All the rubber and seals
are done. This is a turnkey ready to cruise.
